Raymond Joseph Braker, age 93, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, October 11, 2016 at his home.
Raymond was born February 16, 1923, in Barton County, Missouri, one of the 11 children of Sam and Sarah (Banwart) Braker. After serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned home to resume farming and raising cattle. On June 1, 1952, near Bern, Kansas, Raymond married LuEtta Marti and they made their home and farmed their land in Barton and Jasper Counties for more than 60 years. He was a member of Apostolic Christian Faith in Pittsburg. Devoted to his family, Raymond took great pleasure in time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving them with many fond memories.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Paul and Dan Braker; six brothers, Albert, Fred, Lester, Ben, Oscar, and Leonard Braker; three sisters, Edna Somerhalder, Bernice Frieden, and Pearl Braker.
Survivors include children, Janice (Bob) Stoller, Liberal, Missouri, Elaine (Terry) Knoblock, Larchwood, Iowa, Roy (Judy) Braker, Jasper, Missouri, Jerry (Carol) Braker, Liberal, Missouri, Martha (Curt) Kellenberger, Lamar; a sister, Alice (Charles) Marti, Liberal, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Braker, Lamar; a brother-in-law, Merle Marti, Sabetha, Kansas; 27 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 13th at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 14th, at Apostolic Christian Faith in Pittsburg where the family will receive friends from 9:15 until 9:45 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery southwest of Lamar, Missouri.
