James Ryan Maness, 88, a lifelong Stella resident, died March 3, 2015 at Freeman Neosho Hospital, in Neosho.
James was born October 17, 1926 in Stella, the son of Everett L. and Hope Ann (Yadon) Maness. He served in the U.S. Navy, having served at the end of WW II and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Jim and Marilyn McPherson were married on Sept. 21, 1949 in Stella and she survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Patricia Ann Maness of Stella and a son, Maj. James K. Maness USA, retired and wife, Ruth of Stella; four grandchildren, Lt. James Everett Maness, USN, stationed in Mechanicsburg, PA and wife, Melissa; CPT Paul Maness, USA, Ft. Irwin, CA; Robert Pominville of Houston, Texas and Tami Dellacalce of Joplin and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Donald R. Maness.
