JoAnn Parker, age 81, Joplin, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015 at a local nursing home after a long illness.
JoAnn was born September 5, 1933 in Worthington, Ohio to the late Robert J. Smith and Pauline Mae Chapin Smith and had lived in Joplin since July of 2003.
A homemaker, JoAnn loved animals and would adopt several into her home at any given time. She also was an accomplished poet. Several of her works went into publication. In her spare time, JoAnn enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle.
Survivors include her husband; daughters and other extended family.
JoAnn has been taken for cremation. No formal services are planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
