Valerie Kim Bennett, age 51, Joplin, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Landmark Hospital after an illness.
Valerie was born July 14, 1963 in Joplin to George L. Hooper and the late Margaret Reynolds Hooper and had lived in Joplin all of her life.
She worked at several area restaurants as a waitress and gas stations as an attendant. She was also an associate at Wal-Mart for a short time, and spent several years as manager at the former Country Kitchen.
Valerie enjoyed bowling; collecting Coca-Cola products; Harley Davidson Motorcycles and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
In addition to her mother, Valerie was preceded in death by an infant son, Dustin Ray Hooper and a brother, Rodney Hooper.
Survivors include her father and step mother, George L. Hooper and his wife, Shirley, Carthage; a sister, Pamela Dodson, Joplin; a brother, Kevin Hooper and his wife, Terri, Carthage; her beloved Chihuahua, Goldie; many nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
A memorial visitation is planned for Thursday from 7-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
