Don Zellmer

Donald Edward Zellmer, 74, of Riverton, Ks passed from this life on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO.

Donald was born May 8, 1943 in Pittsburg, KS to the union of Edward and Wilma (Lortz) Zellmer. Donald was united in marriage to Brenda (Dannels) Zellmer on February 19, 1982 in Miami, OK. Donald was a welder and inspector and worked for McNally’s, Thermal Engineering, and B & D Fabrications, before retiring in 2005.

Donald was a member of the House of Prayer Church, Riverton, KS, National Rifle Association, and the Joplin Rifle and Pistol Club. Donald enjoyed tinkering around in his shop, building various things and loved to shoot guns. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially spoonbill.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one son, Tommy Zellmer.

Donald is survived by his wife Brenda Zellmer of the home; one daughter, Bailey Zellmer of the home; two sons, Wayne Zellmer and wife Debbie of Carl Junction, MO, and Joe Long and wife Alicia of Miami, OK; mother-in-law, Betty Dannels of Galena, KS; six grandchildren, Peyton and Gavin Long, Tyler and Garrett Gravison, Macy Dodson, and Kara Baugh; three great grandchildren, Alex Dodson, Raelynn Creel, and Mercedes Calderon; three brother-in-law’s, Greg Dannels and wife Nancy of Durant, OK, Terry Dannels and wife Glenda of Grove, OK, and Mark Dannels of Galena, KS; along with many cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the House of Prayer Church, Riverton, KS. Memorial donations may be made to Joplin Rifle & Pistol Club. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
