Jane Olson

Jane M. Olson, age 87, Webb City, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Spring River Christian Village.

Jane was born August 27, 1930 in Joplin, daughter of the late Clyde Rothanbargar and Gladys Hall Rothanbagar. She graduated from Joplin High School in 1948, and attended Joplin Junior College. She worked with Rocketdyne for several years before working with the United States Department of Defense in Joplin until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her twin grandchildren, making sure they were using proper grammar, spelling everything correctly, and teaching them history along the way. She had a large impact on her family with the use of her clerical skills that she had attained through the years. Jane was also a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Olson who passed away on May 2, 2015.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Essley and husband Tom of Baxter Springs, Kansas, twin grandsons, Kyle Essley and wife Sarah of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Kelly Essley of Overland Park, Kansas; a brother, Bill Rothanbargar of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Joplin Blind Association.
