(From Lockwood Funeral Chapel)Dr. Roger E. Whaley, of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Lockwood, Missouri at the age of 85.
Roger was born July 20, 1936 in Mt Pleasant, Iowa where he graduated high school and worked in the family business before attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.
Upon graduation from PCC he moved his family to Independence, Mo. where he establish his first office 1966. An opportunity to purchase a chiropractic practice in 1968 found the family relocating to Lockwood, MO where he cracked folks up until his retirement in 2012.
Roger married Ella Mae Brown on April 14, 1957 in Millersburg, Illinois. Throughout his career he was involved with the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Independence, Missouri as well as civic clubs in Lockwood including the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Boy Scouts, Lockwood Community Foundation and a variety of committees with the United Methodist Church. He also served in the Naval Reserve from 1954-1962. He was an avid bicyclist for many years and participated in bike rides across Missouri and Iowa. He proudly participated for years as a member of Team Endorphin in local MS-150 bicycle events raising money for Multiple Sclerosis.
He is survived by his wife Ella, son Terry (Jean) Whaley of Springfield, grandchildren, Tera Whaley of Wellington Florida, Jeremiah Whaley of Lockwood, great granddaughter Callie Whaley, and great great granddaughter Zoey, of Wichita, Kansas. Sisters include Wanda (Bill) Pate, of Saucier, Mississippi, Marlene (Ron) Medin, Jefferson City, Missouri, Brother Wendell (Chris) Whaley, Mt Pleasant, Iowa. Additional family includes four nieces and one nephew.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Alice Whaley and son Tony Whaley.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. with a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the Lockwood United Methodist Church Life Center. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lockwood Community Foundation, Lockwood United Methodist Church, or to the donor’s choice. Services are under the care of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
