(From Simpson Funeral Home)It is with profound sorrow and deep respect that we announce the passing of Bruce William Van Trease, known to all as Bruce Van Trease. Born on August 26, 1951, in Joplin, MO, Bruce lived a life that was as remarkable as the man himself. In his 74 years, he touched many lives with his compassionate heart, humble nature, loyal friendship, and witty humor.
Bruce was a proud son of Joplin, where he spent his entire life. He was a dedicated employee at Tamko in Joplin, Missouri, where he worked in Research and Development until his retirement in 2018.
However, what mattered most to Bruce was his beloved mother, Brooksielane Van Trease. His loyalty and love for her was a testament to his character, shining brightly in his actions and words. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Van Trease, and his mother, Brooksielane Van Trease. He is survived by his Aunt Della, Uncle Lonnie and numerous cousins.
In remembering Bruce, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by kindness, humility, and a spirit of service. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him, reminding us of the importance of compassion, loyalty, and humor in our lives.
Bruce had requested there be no services conducted. The family has honored that request.
Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home. The family encourages relatives and friends to visit www.simpsonfh.com to share photos and memories of Bruce. As William Penn once said, "Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still." Let us keep Bruce alive in our hearts, sharing our memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. Your contributions will serve as a testament to Bruce's life, his character, and the indelible mark he left on all of us.
