Helen Cupp

(From Parker Mortuary)

Helen Clarissa Cupp, a cherished light of the Joplin community, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, in her hometown of Joplin, MO. Born on June 2, 1925, to Oscar F. Middleton and Iva Lee (Cockrum), Helen's life was a testament to the power of kindness, love, and faith.

Helen, affectionately known as just that by friends and family, was a beacon of warmth in the lives of all who knew her. She shared over 68 years of marriage with her beloved husband, William Cupp, who preceded her in death in 2010. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, and Helen's legacy is continued through her sons, Steven Cupp and his wife Donna of Joplin, MO, and Claude Cupp and his wife Gloria of Neosho, MO. Her sister, Eva Mae Williams of Raytown, MO, along with four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, will carry forward the cherished memories of Helen's love and guidance.

A lifelong resident of Joplin, Helen's presence was a constant in the community. As a dedicated homemaker, she took great pride in caring for her family and creating a home where everyone was always welcome. Her Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence.

Helen's interests and talents were as varied as they were engaging. She was an accomplished seamstress, often fashioning beautiful garments and gifts for her loved ones. Her joy for life extended to leisurely pursuits as well—she was a skilled card player, an enthusiastic participant in ping pong games, and relished the opportunity to travel. Helen's happiest moments were spent at Tablerock Lake, where she enjoyed the tranquility of nature amidst the laughter and company of her family. The holidays were a special time for Helen, as they brought together the family she so deeply loved.

Beyond her family and personal interests, Helen was instrumental in the development and growth of the Silver Creek community. Her efforts and dedication contributed significantly to its expansion, leaving a lasting impact that will be felt for generations to come.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Helen would describe her as loving, kind, and faith-filled. She was a woman who not only preached the values of Christianity but lived them every day through her actions and interactions with others.

Funeral services for Helen C. Cupp will be held at Parker Mortuary on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service time of 1 pm with Dr. Phillip McClendon officiating.
