(From Brenner Mortuary)Stuart L. Owsley, 83, of Pittsburg, passed away at 11:52 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025 at his daughter’s home in Tulsa, OK.
He was born May 23, 1942 in Belleville, Kansas, the son of Justice Perry Lyndon and Maxine E. (Polley) Owsley. He graduated from Kansas State University. He lived in Manhattan for five years, Joplin for 4 years and Pittsburg for over 73 years.
On January 19, 1975, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Ann Spicer in Pittsburg for 47 years. She preceded him death on May 4, 2022. Previously he was married to Linda R. Kennett in 1966. To this union, three children were born, Stuart Todd Owsley, Tyler Lane Owsley, and Amber Lynn Owsely.
Stuart was self-employed as an Architect Engineer for 40 years, retiring in 2016.
Membership was held in the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg; American Institute of Architects, Lions Club, Pittsburg Kiwanis, and National Council of Architectural Registration Board.
Survivors include two sons, Stuart Todd Owsley of Seattle, Washington and Tyler Lane Owsley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a daughter, Amber Lynn Owsley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, Kirk Owsley and sister-in-law, Sandy Owsley of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Susan Cross of New Orleans, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Sierra Owsley, Nathan Owsley and Abby Owsley; Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law, Gay and Larry Adams; sister-in-law, Karen Finch; four nephews, and four nieces; and his beloved dog Sophia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Kathleen Owsley.
An informal Celebration of Life and Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church. Private family burial will take place in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be given to First United Methodist Church &/or Wesley House.
