Bub Lawyer

(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)

On March 12, 2018, Harry "Bub" Lawyer, 90, of Sarcoxie, MO left his earthly home and entered the heavenly kingdom following a short illness.

Bub was born August 8, 1927 to Irene and Harry Lawyer of Wentworth, MO. He attended school at Wentworth. He married his long time sweetheart, Betty Jo Lawyer (Feather) on April 19, 1947. He and Jo moved to Sarcoxie and were lifetime residents of the community. Bub will be remembered by those who knew him for his sense of humor, generosity, and willingness to help others.

Bub and Jo raised three children, Alana, Dave, and Tom. They later cared for their ten grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, who enjoyed countless hours of fishing, hunting, and farming with their grandpa. His children and grandkids have many great stories from spending time with him.

Bub served in the Navy during World War II. He later owned and operated Bub Lawyer's Texaco station from 1959-1979 and then retired to become a full time hobby farmer at the home he and Jo shared outside of Sarcoxie.

He enjoyed playing dominos with his friends, golfing, fishing, and hunting. For many years, he traveled to Colorado to hunt elk. He also made annual trips to Kansas and South Dakota to hunt pheasant. He rarely met a stranger and was regularly found at community social events in Sarcoxie. Bub enjoyed attending high school and middle school ballgames to support his hometown. He was always known for his friendliness and continued to welcome visitors even in his final days.

Bub's family takes great comfort knowing that he was led to accept Christ in his heart in April, 2015 and is now welcomed to his heavenly home to walk alongside his wife Jo and daughter Alana.

Graveside services with full military honors for Mr. Lawyer are 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Sarcoxie Cemetery in Sarcoxie, Missouri, with Pastor Jerry Mayfield officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Ryan Lawyer, Gage Thomas, Jeremy Lawyer, Matt Beaver, Tim Lawyer and Kyle Torrance. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.housh-goodwinfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bub's memory to the Sarcoxie R-2 Inch at a Time fund, in care of the funeral home.
