Dean Kirby

Dean Clifton Kirby, a witty and creative soul known for his dedication to family, his sense of humor, and his love for music and entertainment, passed away on June 26, 2024. 

Born in Joplin, Missouri on November 15, 1948, Dean was a lifelong resident of the area, contributing to his community for many years as a postman and a Wastewater Plant Operator for the City of Joplin before retiring in 1991.

Dean was a unique individual, known for his quick wit and funny stories. A fan of wrestling, western shows, and the organ, Dean's interests were as varied as his talents. His creativity shone through in his music, and his dedication was evident in his long career in public service. His family will remember him fondly as a loving husband, father, grandfather and dog lover. His favorite quote, which truly encapsulated his spirit, was "Life doesn't require that we be the best, only that we try our best."








Dean was the beloved husband of Marlene Kirby, who he shared 55 wonderful years with. He is survived by his wife Marlene Kirby; children Lisa (Chris) Pliler, Deana Kirby, Jason Kirby, and Megan Kirby; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Lila Kirby; sister Lorna Kirby; brother Delbert Kirby Jr.

A visitation for friends and relatives be held on Monday, July1st, from 5-7pm at Simpson Funeral Home in Carl Junction (101 N. Main St., Carl Junction, MO 64834). A graveside service will take place at Carl Junction Cemetery on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 10:00 am with Chaplain Kyle Beverlin officiating.
