Rick DeClue

(From Nichols Funeral Home)

Rockney Dewayne DeClue, known as ‘Rick’ to his many friends, passed away on June 22, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 64, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 10, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri to Rockney H. and Loretta (Bowen) Declue. He made his home there before moving to Grove in 1976.

Rick was a spirited individual whose passion for cars defined much of his life. He was an avid car enthusiast who enjoyed watching NASCAR and spent countless hours repairing and restoring cars, not just for himself but for others as well. He always made himself available to be of assistance wherever and whenever needed, and if he couldn’t fix it, he always ‘knew a guy’.

Rick served his community through his work, as an equipment operator for the city of Grove and Delaware County, driving a dump truck and operating a wrecker for a local wrecker service for many years. He was never afraid of hard work. He greatly enjoyed visiting with many friends and acquaintances and could often be found at one of his usual hangouts surrounded by those who knew him and cared for him.

Known for his happy and outgoing personality, Rick made friends easily and cherished these relationships deeply. He was beloved by many for his kindness, his knowledge, and his love for those in his life. He was exceptionally proud of his two sons who were always there for him, and his grandchildren were his heart’s delight.

He was a devoted follower of Mountain Movers Church, where he found spiritual solace and community. Rick's legacy of warmth, friendship, and dedication to his passions and community will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all.

Rick was preceded in death by his father Rockney, sister Darlene Halsey and son Ricky DeClue. Left to cherish his memory, his mother Loretta DeClue of St. Louis, Missouri and son Ryan DeClue (Jessica) of Neosho, Missouri; 5 adored grandchildren, Pryce, Rylea, Emerie, Caitlin, and Dakota, as well as many extended family and friends.

A memorial service for Rick will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Chapel.
