(From Konantz Warden Funeral Home)Robert “Bob” Warren Scott Jr. (age 74) of Lamar, MO, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his home after an unexpected and brief battle with cancer.
Bob was born February 27, 1947 in Joplin, MO to Robert Warren Scott Sr. and Edwina June (Paschall) Scott. He spent most of his childhood in Hoisington, KS. He graduated from Hoisington High School in 1965 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri Southern State College in 1970.
He married Carla Castle on August 31, 1968 and they later moved to Lamar, MO to raise their family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Bob served for 30 years in the United States Navy during which time he did two tours in the Vietnam War on the USS Enterprise and the USS Fox and one tour in Desert Storm. He retired in 1998 with the rank of Navy Captain.
His professional life was dedicated to the construction industry. He started out as a bricklayer, then went on to hold many different positions in the industry through the years. He ended his career after two decades with DeWitt and Associates where he was a Senior Project Manager and Vice President. He managed many major commercial construction projects in the Southwest Missouri area and was a master at his trade.
In Bob’s free time you could usually find him on a golf course. He was also a dedicated family man. His favorite title of all that he held was probably the one of grandpa, also known as “Geebob” to his grandkids. He will be dearly missed by all that were lucky enough to know him and love him. In his final days Bob wanted it to be known that he had a really good time in this life.
Bob is survived by his wife Carla; 3 children, Chesley (Stacy) Scott of Neptune Beach, Florida, Joshua (Lori) Scott of Superior, Colorado, Rebekah (Chad) Johnson of Lamar, Missouri. Bob is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Elliott Johnson, Dominic Scott, Audrey Johnson, Julieta Scott, Cater Scott and Thea Johnson and sisters, Barbara (John) Mcgann, Panama and Debbie (Doug) Cavagnaro, Joplin, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy Scott.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Lamar Country Club.
