Jay Miller

Jay Dwight Miller, age 89, of Lamar, Missouri passed away February 16, 2022, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lamar, MO.

Jay was born June 8, 1932 in Winnepeg, Manitoba Canada to Dwight Thomson Miller and Lestie Agnes (Sherwood) Miller. Jay graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1951 and then graduated with his bachelor's degree in forestry from Humboldt State University Department of Forestry and Wildland Resources in Arcata, California. 








On February 2, 1963, Jay married Sharon Lynne Moore in Lamar, MO.

Jay retired as a district ranger in the U.S. Forest Service in California after 30 years of employment. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952-1954 and fought in the Korean Conflict. Jay worked in helicopter maintenance and served aboard the USS Mindoro and the USS Sipan.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Miller of Lamar, two sons; Jeff Miller of Rancho Cordova, California and Mike (Kristi) Miller of Vancouver, Washington, two grandchildren; Kevin Miller of Folsom, California and Cody (Jenny) Miller of Oceanside, California, one great-grandchild, Reese Miller of Folsom, CA, one brother, Russell Miller of Redding, California, brother and sister-in-laws; John and Marilyn Moore and Patty and Lynn Bruno, along with many nieces and nephews.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Lucille Compton and Lestie Harmon and two brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lamar, MO.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2022 until service time at the funeral home.
