Ron Trujillo

(From Parker Mortuary)

Ronald (Ron) Peter Trujillo was born July 7, 1951 in Alamosa, Colorado and grew up in San Luis, Colorado.

In his youth, Ron roamed the Sangre de Cristo range hunting, fishing and exploring with his horse, Princess. He graduated Holy Cross Abbey in Canon City, Colorado in 1969 and attended college in Pueblo and Alamosa. Ron worked as ranch hand and later a real estate broker at Trinchera Ranch in Fort Garland, Colorado, which was owned by Malcolm Forbes.

Ron married Dawn Fleming in 1979 and began a family with the birth of Jon (1980) and Amy (1982) in Fort Garland. They moved to Warsaw, Missouri in 1984 to develop Forbes properties at Lake of the Ozarks. There Ron was introduced to boating and bass fishing.

Ron and family moved to Carl Junction in 1986, when he joined Allstate Insurance at the old Sears store on 7th Street. Shortly afterwards, Ron’s office moved to 705 Illinois, across the parking lot, where he stayed for 33 years. Ron loved his customers. Helping them with their insurance needs was his calling. He particularly enjoyed contacting everyone on their birthday to wish them well. Retiring just last year, Ron enjoyed golfing with Dawn at Briarbrook and driving his UTV with his much-loved dog, Rita.

Throughout Ron’s life, he hunted and shot with his closest friends. Ron loved elk hunting, and last year successfully completed in New Mexico his 34th elk hunt.

Grandpa Ron has five beautiful grandchildren: Karen, Jafet, Ella, Phillip and Alexandra. He loved them dearly.

Covid claimed him on February 12. Ron was loved and enjoyed by many. He left us way too soon.
