Gabe Isackson

August 19, 1973 - January 28, 2022

Gabriel Eric Isackson, the son of Dale and Denise Isackson, was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on August 19, 1973. After a few moves the family made a final move to Springfield, Missouri, in 1982, where Gabe later graduated from Parkview High School and attended Missouri State University.

In 1999, Gabe married the love of his life, Abby (Adams) Isackson, and the Isackson family grew to four with the births of beautiful daughters, Chelsea and Philippa.

After receiving his undergraduate and Master’s degree from MSU, Gabe began a twenty-year career as an educator in Golden City and Buffalo school districts before taking a long term assignment as English Literature teacher at his alma mater, Parkview High School. His extra curricular activities included baseball coach, student council sponsor, National Honor Society sponsor. He also served as adjunct for Missouri State University, president of Springfield National Education Association and was active with Missouri NEA. He enjoyed operating scoreboards for many sporting events for Springfield Public Schools, Missouri State University and Greenwood Lab School. After his teaching career, he worked as a technical writer.

Gabe Isackson loved sports, good literature, poetry, music, motorcycles, classic cars, a good cup of coffee and a wide variety of activities with his family, including watching his girls’ soccer matches. He loved spending time with his friends, family and former students.

Gabe Isackson passed away on January 28, 2022, and a Celebration of Life Reception was held on February 10th at the Missouri State Alumni Center. Anyone who knew Gabe will remember his smile, how he loved a good joke and his gift for sharing laughter with friends. His intelligence, wit and idealism made him a singular advocate for his profession, as well as friends and family. He will be dearly missed by hundreds upon hundreds of former students and all those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
