(From Parker Mortuary)Jimmie Dale “Jim” Mitchell, age 78, Diamond, MO passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at his residence with his daughters by his side.
Jim was born January 18, 1944 in Joplin, son of the late Ruic Ottomer Mitchell and Dovie Luticia (Bishop) Mitchell. He graduated from Carl Junction High School, and worked in construction most of his life, owning and operating roofing companies in Joplin, and Jasper, TX.
He married Carolyn Carpenter in 1961, they had two daughters. He loved fishing, hunting, and traveling. His daughters were proud of his dirt track racing at Joplin Speedway. Jim married Betty Baker and they enjoyed 40 + years together before her death in 2020.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
Survivors include his children, Marlene Farley and husband Alan of Diamond, MO, and Linda Bowman of Diamond; grandchildren, Amanda Duckett and husband Glenn, Alan Farley, Jr. and wife Courtney, Elizabeth Raulston, Dylan Kelly, Kelsi Youngblood and husband Casey, and Faith Bowman; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held later with inurnment at Hornet Cemetery.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
