Jamie Horton

Mrs. Jamie Sue Horton, 40, a lifelong area resident of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday evening, February 15, 2023, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri, from complications of heart surgery.

Jamie entered this life on November 11, 1982, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, daughter of Lawrence and Brenda (Klindworth) Phillips. She was raised and attended school in Rocky Comfort. 

On May 5, 2005, she was united in marriage to Shannon Horton and to this union one daughter was born, Makenzie.






Jamie was employed by Express Script/Cigna in the customer service division. She enjoyed cooking and baking, caring for her chickens and attending all of her daughter’s activities. She was a member of Living Word Mission in Simco.




She was preceded in death by her birth mother, Susan Phillips; grandparents, Jim and Clara Phillips, Fred and Lucille Dilley, Alvin Klindworth, and John and Ann Sturdivant; as well as her grandmother-in-law, Faye Horton.

Jamie is survived by her husband of seventeen years, Shannon Horton of the home; her daughter and best friend, Makenzie Horton of the home; her parents, Lawrence and Brenda Phillips of Rocky Comfort; two siblings, Brandon Blevins and wife, Kaisha, of Jane and Shawna Coberly and husband, Chris, of Neosho; her in-laws, Jerald and Sharon Carlin of Rocky Comfort; her grandfather-in-law, Charles Horton also of Rocky Comfort; a brother-in-law, Joshua Carlin and wife, Christy, of Monett; her sister-in-law, Renee Vogt and husband, Dylan, of Cassville; as well as a host of other family and numerous friends.

Jamie had a huge heart and loved all her family and friends. She was most proud of her miracle, best friend, and daughter Makenzie. They could be found together hunting, fishing, going to dance practice, or just about anything. Jamie loved to watch Makenzie compete. Jamie touched the lives of all that knew her. She was always there to lend a helping hand to someone that needed it. Share a funny story about one of her chickens. Be a friend to her dance family. Cook for someone who needed a meal. Give a hug to a friend. Jamie made everyone feel special and loved.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Billy Joe Gentry officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. 







Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Alex Blevins, Ethan Coberly, Chris Coberly, Logan Carlin, Trenton Carlin and Dylan Vogt. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
