Dan Tourtelot

Daniel G. Tourtelot, age 80, Carl Junction, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Freeman West of Joplin.

Dan was born December 18, 1942 in Joplin, son of the late Dale and Warrena (Smith) Tourtelot. He graduated from Joplin High School and then Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas before joining the United States National Guard. 

He was a talented golfer, and was offered a job as assistant pro at the Inverness Country Club in Toledo, OH. He enjoyed his time there and worked other locations before returning to Joplin in 1972. He then began his career with Leggett and Platt where he worked until retirement.





 

Dan was always an avid golfer, playing with many friends in this area along with his brother, David. He won several tournaments over the years, and was inducted into the Joplin Golf Hall of Fame. He was also very honored to work with the Joplin Junior Golf over the years. He was currently a member of the Sheep Shed Church.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by a daughter, Jody Tourtelot.








Survivors include his wife Billie Ruth (Arrowood) Tourtelot whom he married on November 23, 1972; daughter, Staci Walker (Paul Staudenmaier) of Bendena, Kansas, son, Heath Walker (Delisa) of Carl Junction; grandchildren, Britt Cacopardo (Kaitlyn) of Carl Junction, Rien Cacopardo (Jamie) of Carthage, Haden Walker (Alyssa) of Joplin, Lauren Peters (Keagan) of Carl Junction, Jade Walker (Bailey) of Webb City, Josie Walker of Denver, CO, and Langlee Walker of Webb City; great-grandchildren, Linkyn, Ledger, Lawson, Grace, Jericah, Marley, Harper, and Bennett; his brother, David Tourtelot (Cindy) of Joplin and their sons and families.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

No formal services are planned at this time. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Joplin Junior Golf care of Parker Mortuary.
