(From Midland Cremation Society)Jo Anna Boggs passed away on September 12, 2024 at the age of 64. She was born on September 27, 1959 to James & Martha (Hale) Slater in Carthage, Missouri.
Jo was a graduate of Webb City High school. She worked a few jobs in the Joplin and Springfield, Missouri areas before settling in Cherryvale, Kansas where she and her husband Terry built their lives together. Jo worked for the Cherryvale Public School District where she helped shape the future through the minds of children. She retired in January of 2022 after 27 years of service.
Jo loved playing various sports, including bowling, volleyball, walleyball, and especially softball. She also found great joy in both watching her family in all their various activities as well as sharing with them her love of arts and crafts.
She married the love of her life, Terry Boggs, on September 2, 1994 and he survives her. She is also survived by her children, Barbie Cochran and husband Dave of Carl Junction, Missouri, Melissa Cantrell and husband Mike of Carl Junction, Jason Boggs and Amber of Cherryvale, Kansas, Travis Boggs of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Justin Odom of Burleson, Texas; brothers Don Slater and wife Karen and Ray Slater and wife Teri of Webb City, Missouri; sisters Mabel Smith of Webb City and Toni Carter of Carl Junction; grandchildren Ashley, Landon, Kalee, Gavin, Hunter, Hannah, Eden, and Izabella; great grandchildren, Braylee and Aurora, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents James & Martha Slater, parents-in-law Boyd & Maxine Whitcher, brothers Anthony Smith, Kenneth Smith, and James “Jimmy” Slater, sister Shirley Thornburg, and brother-in-law Donald Carter.
Jo was devoted to her family in every way and touched the lives of countless people, both in class and in the community.
Jo requested to be cremated and a celebration of life will take place on September 21, 2024 at Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tyro Christian Church.
