(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Larry Steven ‘Steve’ Rose, 65, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, after a brief illness. Steve was born on October 14, 1959, in Joplin, Missouri and was one of seven children born to Leonard and Lenora (Everitt) Rose. Steve graduated from Webb City High School in 1978 and remained in the area for the remainder of his life.
Steve began his career in the cattle business while still in high school and would often times miss school just to haul cattle, much to his mother’s dismay. He later became a cattle buyer and spent the majority of his time in area sale barns such as Tulsa Stockyards, Welch Stockyards, Parsons Livestock Auction, Coffeyville Livestock, and Ft. Scott Livestock Market as well as other local stockyard locations.
Steve began his cattle buying career at the former Joplin Regional Stockyards which was located on the corner of Rangeline and Newman Road before moving to its current location. Steve spent the last full day of his life doing what he absolutely loved to do, which was buying and hauling cattle, at Coffeyville Livestock.
Steve is survived by his three children, son, Cody Rose (Brittany), and their two children, River and Creek, of Jasper, Missouri; his daughter, Chadara Rose and daughter, Ada (Reed Ledford, fiancé) and daughter, Cheyenne Carter (Landon), and son, Nixon, all of Carthage, Missouri. In addition, Steve is survived by three brothers, Butch Rose, of Riverton, Kansas, John Rose (Beverly), of Carthage, Missouri, and Gary Rose (Kathie), of Galena, Kansas; and two sisters, Judy Thomas (Doug), of Walnut Grove, Missouri and Tammy Rose Northing, of Webb City, Missouri. Steve is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who he loved very much.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Terri Kaye Rose (April 3, 2025).

Steve was known for his hard work ethic, quick wit and sense of humor. He would often share funny and unique stories which were much appreciated by his beloved family, who will miss him deeply.
Services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Risen Ranch Cowboy Church in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Wednesday, June 18, 2025, also at Risen Ranch Church. Steve will be buried in the family plot in Carterville Cemetery, in Carterville, Missouri.
