George Gore

(From Clark Funeral Home)

George Wayne Gore, 86, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025.

George was born on October 29, 1938, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Jesse W. and Oneita (Mooneyham) Gore. After graduating from Tupelo High School, George proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, serving two tours in Vietnam. During his time in service, he received several commendations, including two Crosses of Gallantry—one with Silver Star and one with Palm. George retired at the rank of Major and continued serving in the Marine Reserves. In total, he dedicated over 25 years of honorable service to his country.

On July 10, 1960, George married the love of his life, Patsy Jean Warren, in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Together, they shared nearly 65 years of marriage, raising a family grounded in faith, love, and service.

George pursued higher education at Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi, earning a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Master’s in Zoology, and a Master’s in Divinity. An ordained minister, he helped plant a church in Louisburg, Kansas and pastored several churches throughout his life, including Pearl Street Baptist Church in Paola, Kansas; Prosperity Southern Baptist Church in Rocky Comfort, Missouri; He also served as a chaplain at Freeman Health System in Neosho, Missouri.

For 26 years, George worked as a Technical Sales and Service Representative for Anderson Chemical Company. Whether in his professional, military, or pastoral life, George was known for his unwavering dedication, deep compassion, and servant’s heart.

George loved people deeply—especially those who were struggling. He was always ready to open his home and lend a helping hand. He adored his family and was a devoted “Pawpaw,” always keeping Hershey bars on hand for his grandchildren and finding creative ways to spend time with them—even “inventing chores” just to bring them around.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Granby, Missouri, where he taught Sunday School. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he was always involved in church wherever he lived.

An avid gardener, George found peace and joy in “playing in the dirt.” He was a proud and active member of the Garden Club at his nursing home and recently planted a rose bush on the grounds with the help of other residents.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy; their children, Steve (Crystal) Gore and Gina (Darren) Cook, both of Neosho, Missouri; his sister Polly Gore of Louisburg, Kansas; nephew Rusty Ainsworth; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Oneita Gore; two sons, Gary Gore and David Gore; and his sister, Reba Ainsworth.
