(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Leona Mae Ashlock, age 79, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025 from injuries received in an auto accident in Carl Junction, Missouri.
Leona was born August 18, 1946 in Joplin, MO. Her parents were Jewell Davis and Mary Leona (Johnson) Davis. She had lived in Galena most of her life.
Her interests included sewing, crocheting, quilting, and coin collecting. But her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She attended school in Joplin. She was a homemaker. in the 1980's she worked a couple of years at St John's Hospital, Joplin. She spent several years as a caregiver to a Paul Katsfey, a family friend.
Leona was married to Billie Ashlock Sr. on July 11, 1964 in Joplin, MO. He preceded her in death January 12, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her father, Jewell Davis, her mother Mary Leona Losey, and two sons, William Leroy Ashlock and Billie Ashlock Jr,
She is survived by two daughters, Mashell Thurman (Charlie), Joplin, MO and Karen Tilton (Ricky), Carl Junction, MO; one sister, Debbie Gideon, Wyandotte, OK; five grandchildren, Samantha Thurman, Courtney Radford, Nicole Thurman, SaRaina Tilton, Ricky Tilton; 10 great grandchildren and one niece Cheyenne Jackson.
Leona was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation. The family will schedule a celebration of life at a later date.
