(From Clark Funeral Home)Michael “Mike” James Grimes left this world for the next on November 26, 2024. Mike was born on March 5, 1986 in Des Moines, Iowa to Kim West.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Bob and Shirley West, grandmother Jackie Arenz, and aunts Kathy West and Irene Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife, Emily, of Neosho, MO, his children Kambria (Jena) and Landon (Tiffany) of Utah, and his children with Emily, Dominic, Killian, and Brenya; his mother, Kim (Neosho), Jamie Lewis of Bellingham, Washington; sisters Cassia (Brandon) Ferrell of Granby, MO and Sky Arenz of Joplin, MO, and many beloved cousins in Iowa.
Mike was an incredibly talented musician who played drums, guitar, wrote music, and sang. He recorded an album with his former band, Stigmatic, and gained some local notoriety playing live shows in and around Provo, Utah. Mike was inspired musically by bands such as Pearl Jam, Rush, and Metallica. With Mike’s absence the world will forever be a little more quiet. Mike worked as a Forklift Operator at Don’s Cold Storage in Neosho, MO.
He was so grateful for this job that allowed him to provide for his family; something that he was extremely proud of. In his spare time he enjoyed watching WWE wrestling. His idol was the Undertaker, whom Mike memorialized with a tattoo. He also loved to watch the Boston Celtics play. Mike made friends everywhere he went.
His calm demeanor and warm smile made it easy for people to feel safe with him. Mike always took the time to make sure the people close to him knew how much he loved them, especially his family. He loved all of his children greatly, and did everything he could to make sure they had what they needed.
A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held in January 2025.
