(From Williams Funeral Home)Mrs. Margaret Irwin Bartles, aged 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, at The Cottages in Milledgeville, GA. She was born on July 25, 1934, in Neosho, MO, to William & Elizabeth Irwin where they resided until the family later moved to Conway, AK.
Upon graduating from high school, Mrs. Bartles moved to Washington DC to work as a secretary in the Pentagon. There she met a young Airman by the name of Jack Bartles. They married and later moved to Georgia where they lived in various areas before settling in Evans to live and raise their family.
They were very active members of Warren Baptist Church in Augusta for over 50 years. At Warren, Mrs. Bartles worked in the church office for a total of 10 years and served as a dedicated member for many years teaching Sunday School, Training Union, Vacation Bible School and working with various committees. She spent the majority of her life in Evans before moving to Milledgeville in July of 2023. She was well loved and respected by her family and friends and all who knew her. Mrs. Bartles loved serving others by visiting them and taking them meals.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Bartles, her parents, William Irwin and Elizabeth Davis Irwin Sturdivant; a grandchild, Chelsea Bartles; brother, John Irwin and sister, Donna Cherry.
Survivors include, daughters, Nancy Bartles Sammons (David) of Milledgeville; Sharon Bartles Eliason (Karl) of Warner Robins; sons, William “Bill” Bartles (Emily) of McDonough and Steve Bartles (Becky) of Ocean Springs, MS; grandchildren, Pamela Bartles Ashley (Chad), Chris Sammons (Lori), Thomas Sammons (Andrea), Drew Bartles, Ali Bartles Simpson (Zack), Bailie Eliason, Kody Eliason; great-grandchildren, Logan & Olivia Sammons, and Ezra Sammons.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bartles will be conducted Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11:00 am in The Chapel at Warren Baptist Church in Augusta with Rev. Dave Dillard officiating.
The family will receive friends at Warren Baptist Church 1 hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Davis and Rev. Roger Bennett officiating.
Flowers accepted. But should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Mature Adults Ministry at Warren Baptist Church (3203 Washington Road. Augusta, GA 30907) or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
