Denzil Thurman

Denzil Elmer Thurman, age 82, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at his home in Neosho, Missouri, following a long illness.

 Denzil was born on September 3, 1931 in Neosho, the son of Elmer D. and Bertha (Piercy) Thurman. He has been a lifelong area resident of the Neosho area. Denzil was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the United States Air Force from August 1951 to November 1953, being medically discharged. He was a carpenter, farmer and worked at Big Smith. He was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church. 

On December 3, 1995, Denzil married and is survived by Carolyn J. Thurman. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Mark Allen Thurman and brothers, Kenneth Thurman, William Thurman, Donald Thurman and Larry Thurman and sisters, Irene Thurman, Bernice Phelan and Imogene Jennings. He has four surviving siblings, Delmar Thurman and Gary Thurman, Neosho and Lucille Pfeifer, Bono, AR and Velma Dean Eddington, Houston, MO. He raised five children, and is survived by D. Lyle Thurman, his wife Claudia and two children all of Saracoxie, Missouri; Greggory O. Thurman, his significant other, Brenda White and one child of Neosho, Missouri; Terry A. Thurman, his wife, Pam and two children of Rogers, Arkansas and Marilyn Jean (Jeannie) Zerr and three children of Sarcoxie, Missouri and thirteen great grandchildren.
