Wathena Watts

Wathena Jane Parker Watts, age 84 of Joplin, passed away at 8:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born February 3, 1930 in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Janie Foster Parker. She had lived 35 years in Florida and the rest of her life in Joplin. A homemaker, she also had worked as a sales clerk for S.S. Kresge, K-Mart and Cushman Fruit Co. She was a member of First Community Church.

On October 31, 1948, she married Leo Monroe Watts in Arkansas. He preceded her in death February 3, 2008.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Lowery and husband Robert of Umatilla, FL, Sandra Pim and Pete Kozak of Webb City; a son, Douglas Watts and wife Kathy Jean of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren, Bryan Lowery, Tiffany Guillen and husband Polo, Laura Beth Higgins and husband Josh, Douglas Watts, Jr. and wife Kara, Kim Deafenbaugh and husband Jason; 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 13th at 4:00 P.M. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Roger Hasselquist officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Autism Speaks in care of Parker Mortuary.
