(From Clark Funeral Home)Carolyn Sue Koob, was born August 24th 1948, in Bonne Terre hospital in Missouri. Her mother was Maxine Kent (Wilcox) and father, Charles Kent. She was one of seven children & prided herself on being a self-taught, self-made, strong, independent woman.
She passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday morning April 9th, 2022, surrounded by her family and the Lord. She joined the love of her life, husband and best friend, Richard “Dick” Koob who preceded her in death on January 26, 2017, her beloved daughter, Lisa Dawn Sharp, and so many other dear family and friends, awaiting her arrival in heaven.
Sue grew up in Festus Missouri & attended Festus Senior High. She married Dick Koob on October 28, 1971 and they began to live the life they had always dreamed of, together and deeply in love. Sue and Dick were world travelers, followed their executive careers and lived in many different cities a crossed the United States.
On top of Sue’s successful career in accounting, modern credit principles & collections she joined her husband and partner to own Katella Travel in Anaheim, a Firestone dealership, multiple rental properties & several successful ranching operations across California, Missouri & Texas.
Finally drafting herself the architectural drawings for their dream home built in 1990s on the resaca in Bayview Texas. She loved and served her Lord, her family and her community in her essential role as a wife, mother, friend & businesswoman. Sue also known to her grandchildren & great grandchildren as “Suga” will be remembered for her magnificent story telling of her family memories and making each one always feel they were her true “Favorite."
She was a member of the Catholic Church, serving in numerous roles, and always offering to take lead of every event. All the while prioritizing the family structure, social gatherings, holidays, hosting the big things that affected the ones she loved the most, and of course winning in cards and family games. She loved one on one time with her grand kids, great grand kids and her closest friends and family.
Sue grew up enjoying the outdoors as a child, and her and Dick loved their horses, birds, dogs, and the wildlife surrounding their home. She always kept the perfect home and gardens, and everyone loved her knack for raising championship roses. She was everything from a bowler, certified scuba diver, water & snow skier, to a mentor. Sue was even named Chairwoman of the Board to a multimodal logistics company that grew from a basement office to an award-winning transportation provider for fortune 500 companies.
She was passionate about reading good books, watching classic movies, listening to country & western music & enjoyed writing her own one of kind poetry that spilled directly from her big heart and quick-witted mind. Including the poem that was published in the National Library of Poetry, she titled “Seasons of Life”. All though petite in stature Sue was referred to as a real, true inspirational giant.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the many wonderful nurses and nurse assistants of the Cox Health Center & Compassus Hospice group of Monett.
Sue is survived by two children, Son Richard Alan Koob the second and partner, Rebecca of Houston, Texas. Son William “Bill” J. Boyer and wife Eddy Lina of Stark City Missouri; 8 grandchildren, Richard “Richie” Koob and partner Jon, Michael Koob & Lauren Koob of Houston, Texas, Autumn Ramos and husband Christian of San Diego, California, Torre Vincent and husband Dustin and Zach Sharp of Diamond, Missouri, Anne Dee Boyer & James Boyer of Pineville, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Brock and Lane Vincent and Leora Ramos; two brothers Butch & Randy Kent; four sisters Wanda Kent, Terri Kent Keith, Sherri Karnes & Glen Koob. Sue leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, adopted family & dear friends.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; sister Betty Reece Kent; her most beloved daughter Lisa Dawn Sharp & her precious grandson, baby, Dustin James Koob.
