Brandi Jackson

Brandy Jackson, age 43, of Joplin entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 10:00 AM at New Day United Pentecostal Church in Miami, OK with burial to follow at 1:30 PM at Osborne Cemetery in Joplin.








The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, July 5th beginning at 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM at Parker Mortuary. At 6:30 PM on Tuesday, the family will then hold a private family visitation until 8:00 PM.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.

Khaleesi Baker

Khaleesi Kane Baker of Pineville Mo, passed away on Monday June 27th, 2022 at 1:40 pm at Webb City Missouri Fire Department parking lot. She was born on June 27, 2022. 

She is survived by her parents Michael Lewis Baker II, and Jerry Lynn Baker, both of Pineville, Mo. 








Khaleesi is also survived by her siblings, Kayden Baker, Kale baker, Kalya Baker, C.J. Haverfield II, Shaylee Sieben, Gabe Dutton, Jayden McNally, Kyran Dumas, Aalyiah Purvis, Clauz Purvis II, And Kaiden Ryder. 

She was preceded in death by two siblings Koda Michael Lewis Baker III, and Kyson Lane Baker. 

A graveside service will be held on Friday July 1st at 11:00 am at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City.

Don Carpenter

Don Sylvester Carpenter, age 87, departed this world at his home, on June 21, 2022. Don was born in Pennsboro, Missouri, the son of Henry Melvin and Bernice Fay (Hickey) Carpenter.

Don was a 1953 graduate of Miller High School in Miller, Missouri. He enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard at the age of 17, serving his country for a total of 42 years. 









During his years of military service, he farmed, and was employed by Lockwood Grain and Feed Store, in Lockwood, Missouri, Avilla Implement/International Harvesters, in Avilla, Missouri and eventually he owned his own business, Lockwood Auto, in Lockwood Missouri, until “retiring” to full time farming. Don's passions in life were his family, his Country, Bluegrass/Country music, old cars, and farming.

He was very involved in the Lawrence/Dade County communities as his family grew-up, serving as a Board Member of Plew Bible Church and was always on hand for any duties needed at West Elementary Parent Teachers Association (PTA) or Miller School District at large. 

He worked long hours helping with the organization of school fund-raisers such as pie suppers, chili suppers and school carnivals, which assisted all the children in the district to have enhanced educational advantages. He was an active member of the Farm Bureau and Chamber of Commerce, serving the community in many capacities and for many different occasions over the years.

Later in life, indulging Don’s love for Bluegrass/Ole’ Time Country music, which was strongly encouraged by his mother in his early years, Don, and his wife Heidi, built a “Barn” and established the Sycamore Jamboree as their living room jam sessions needed more space. The band, “The Sycamore Jammers” included guitars, banjos, fiddles, mandolins, piano, and drum instrumentalist. If asked what the bands favorite music was to play, you’d likely get an answer of “the good ole’ stuff,” which was defined as Grand Ole’ Opry music. All were welcome to “sit-in,” play and enjoy the music.

He married Carol Parsons Carpenter in 1955, (deceased). On November 16, 1996, he married Heidi Gall in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife, of 24 years, Heidi; one sister, Linda Bolin of Republic, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Barbara Carpenter of Sarcoxie, Missouri; one daughter, Deborah Shipley and her husband, Bruce, of Drexel, Missouri; one son, Reggi Carpenter and his wife, Leslie, of Miller, Missouri; one son-in-law, Terry Estes and his wife, Sheila, of Miller, Missouri; two stepsons, Klaus Guenther of Stuttgart, Germany and Terry Green and his wife, Jennifer, of Springfield, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.








He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Fay Hickey Carpenter Daugherty, and Henry Melvin Sylvester Carpenter; one daughter, Connie Estes; two brothers, Daryl Carpenter and his wife, Mary and Charles Carpenter and one brother-in law, Norman Bolin.

A private family graveside will be held at a later date at the Gray’s Point Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home.

Josepha Timothy

Josepha Pedro Timothy, age 62, Webb City, Missouri passed away early Friday, June 24, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was born on December 17, 1959, in Micronesia the daughter of Faustino Pedro and Daniela (Hetiback) Pedro. 

She married Penito Timothy in August of 1984. Josepha was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Carthage, Missouri.

She is survived by her husband, Penito; seven children, Ansy Timothy, Gracelyn Timothy, Brichlyn Timothy, Jason Timothy, Benijay Timothy, BJ Timothy, and Joseph Timothy; eight brother and sisters, John Pedro, Kenneth Pedro, Alanphaso Pedro, Irene Pedro, Bonifasa Pedro, Yopita Pedro, Inosenta Pedro, and Yomina Pedro; and four grandchildren.








She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held 5-7 pm, Friday, July 1, 2022 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral mass will be held 9 am, Saturday, July 2, 2022 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage. Rayma Redden

Lavene Rayma Redden of Riverton, KS passed from this life Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at her home. She was 71.

Rayma was born November 14, 1950 in Miami, OK to Arthur “Ott” Calvin and Lavene May (Reynolds) Smith. She had lived in Picher til 2008 moving to Riverton, KS. She graduated from Picher – Cardin High School class of 1968 and received her Associate’s Degree in Business from N.E.O A. & M. College in Miami.

Rayma had worked for Bowers Insurance Agency in Miami, First State Bank in Picher, OK, N.E.O. A&M College Bookstore in Miami and for Quapaw Nation Childcare Development Fund Program as Resource and Referral Assistant. She was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Baxter Springs, KS.








Rayma was preceded in death by an infant son, Cody Jack Redden, son-in-law, Travis Gray, her parents, one brother, Arthur Daile Smith and one niece, Stacy Dawn Smith.

Survivors include her husband Jack Redden of the home, 2 daughters, Amy Gray of Columbus, KS and Rayma Phillips and husband Michael of Webb City, MO, 1 brother, Lyndell Smith of Bloomfield, NM, 4 grandchildren Macy Gray, Luke Gray, Halle Gray and Carly Phillips, and nephews and nieces Tink Smith and wife JoQuita of Quapaw, OK, Daile Duane Smith of Bloomfield, NM and Lori Ward of Hartwell, GA.








Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022 at Crossroads Christian Church in Baxter Springs, KS. Rev. Cameron Woodring and Rev. Kyle Anderson will officiate. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, SW of Columbus, KS.

Paul Donham

Rodney Paul “Kink” Donham, age 82 of Carl Junction, went to be with Jesus on Monday, June 27, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.

Paul was born on January 22, 1940, in Seneca, Missouri to Kenneth “Speck” and Mae (Durham) Donham.

Paul married the love of his life, Linda Cantrell, on August 26, 1961, in Carl Junction, Missouri. He owned his own construction company and Donham’s Trash Service in Carl Junction for many years. 








Paul later worked for his brother Lee Roy at L&D Cabinets until he started his job at Dean’s Custom Cabinets where he recently retired after twenty-one years. He served as a volunteer of the Carl Junction Fire Protection District for over thirty years. He was a member of the Fir Road Christian Church and served as a Treasurer and Deacon.

In his younger years, he liked to hunt and fish. Since retiring he enjoyed watching Andy Griffith, Barnwood Builders, and all sports. Paul was very witty and always had the best jokes. He loved seeing his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids play and succeed in life.

Paul is survived by his wife Linda Donham; three children, Dr. Rodney Donham Jr., Janice Wright and Bob Andersen, Darrell and Angela Donham. Grandchildren, Kenny and Krissy Andersen, Caleb and Cassidy Wright, James and Erica Andersen, Marcus and Mercedes Donham, and Makayla and Landon Osborn. Great-grandchildren, Greyson, Calhan, Charlotte, Madison, Alaia, and Crew. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Donham and his wife Judy, Richard Donham, Lee Roy Donham and his wife Becky. Sisters-in-law Doris Donham, Beverly Donham, and Sharon Logan. Brother-in-law Jim Cantrell. Along with many nieces and nephews.






 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth “Speck” and Mae Donham, and brothers Wayne Donham and Roger Donham.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5th at 10:00 a.m. with service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Fir Road Christian Church with Kelly Ross officiating. Interment will follow at the Carl Junction Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Carl Junction Helping Hands or the Carl Junction Cemetery Association in memory of Paul.

Garry Thurman

Garry Dale Thurman was born June 20, 1939, in Newton County, Missouri, one of twelve children to Elmer Otis and Bertha (Piercy) Thurman. He entered into rest on June 28, 2022, surrounded by his family, in the comfort of his home at the age of 83. 

Garry was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Neosho High School. He worked at Nutra Blend until retirement and following his retirement, had a lawn service. 









Garry enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was very family oriented and enjoyed fishing and boating. He attended Believer’s Faith Fellowship Church in Neosho. 

Gary and Dora (Hawk) were united in marriage, in 1961 at Miami, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death in 1997. 

He is survived by one son, Stacy Thurman and wife, Jessicia of Granby; grandson, Justin Thurman and wife, Amy of Neosho; granddaughter, Harley Thurman of Neosho; three great grandchildren, Clay, Wyatt, and Sawyer; his significant other, Connie Shadwick and a sister, Dean Eddington and husband, Omer of Houston, Missouri. 








In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Tena Ward and ten siblings. 

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 6th at 10 am at Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery, south of Neosho. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Tuesday evening, July 5th, from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Pat White

Patricia Sue “Pat” White, age 82, of Neosho, Missouri, formerly of Granby, Missouri, passed away at 9:13 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was born February 26, 1940, in Pierce City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Leo Joseph “Buck” and Melba (Fertig) Blinzler. 

On September 13, 1958, she married Jackie “Jack” White in Miami, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on August 7, 1994.








Pat grew up in the Pierce City and Wentworth communities, graduating from Pierce City High School. She initially worked for her parents at the Pierce City Telephone Company and, upon marrying Jack, moved to Granby to raise their family. 

Pat worked for International Paper in Joplin and later opened her salon, specializing in exercise and tanning. She loved to be outdoors. Pat would piddle in the yard picking up sticks and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed quilting, watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune, playing dominos and bingo, and most of all, watching her great-grandchildren play sports or whatever activities they were involved in.

Those surviving her include her two granddaughters, Lindsay Orcutt of Neosho and Jackie Bechtold of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Margaret “Peg” Williams and Pam Baker of Neosho; and two great-granddaughters, Aidan Orcutt and Alexis Harrison.








In addition to her parents, and husband, Jack, one daughter, Penny Lynn White, and one brother, J.D. Blinzler, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the Clark Funeral Home in Granby, Missouri with Dr. Jerry Seigel officiating. Burial will follow at Granby Memorial Cemetery in Granby. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the funeral home, prior to the service.

Norma Henry

Norma Ruth Henry, age 84, Joplin, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Mercy of Joplin with family at her side.

Norma was born April 23, 1938 in Lathrop, Missouri, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Porter and Dorotha Lee (Currell) Porter. She grew up in Stanberry, Missouri and graduated from Stanberry High School. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. 









She has held different jobs over the years, including several years with Dixie Printing, was a volunteer with Crosslines, and was a member of the Quilting Club.

She married Frank Cogdill and the couple had two children, J. Scott Cogdill and Angela (Cogdill) Kunce. She was also married to Rex Henry, and through this union she received two additions, Mike Henry and Brenda Powell. She lived for her church and her church family, and was especially attentive to her kids and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by both of her husbands.








Survivors include her children, J. Scott Gogdill and wife Julia of Asbury, Missouri and Angela Kunce and husband Ed of Joplin; step-children, Mike Henry and wife Claire of Franklin, Tennessee, and Brenda Powell and husband John of Joplin; grandchildren, Abby Wilkins and husband Matt of Carl Junction and Travis Kunce and wife Stacey of Oronogo, Missouri; great grandchildren, Justice Ely Moore of Carl Junction, Paisley Michelle Kunce, Joselyn Kunce, and Whitley Kunce all of Oronogo; and her special friend, Rusty Kunkler of Joplin.

Graveside services will be Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Fred Pugh officiating.

There will be a family gathering following the service at the granddaughter’s home.

Zaybrial Rowdy Judd (Falling Pot) Starr, one year four month old infant son of Justin Starr and Hunter Mullin entered in to the loving arms of Jesus suddenly on June 27, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Zaybrial Rowdy Judd (Falling Pot) Starr was born February 22, 2021 in Joplin, MO. He was a member of the Miami Nation Tribe Of Oklahoma and the Cherokee Nation Tribe of Oklahoma. He loved the water and especially his bubbies.







Zaybrial is survived by his parents Hunter Mullin and Justin Starr; Maternal Grandmother Heather Shields and Maternal Grandfather Wynn Mullin; Paternal Grandmother, Opal Harnar and Paternal Grandfather, Larry Starr; his siblings, Zayne Shields, Zavyn Shields, Zachary Mullin, Savannah Hutchison and Marcus Higgins; A host of Aunts and Uncles and extended family.

Zaybrial was preceded in death by his Great-Grandmothers, Julia Lankford, Barbara Mullin; Grandfathers Larry Starr and Doyle Shields; one Aunt Kylee Shields; Aunt-in-love Kayleigh Teal and one Uncle Edward Shields.








The family will receive friends at 9:30am, Friday, July 1, 2022 at the Swars Prairie Church of Christ until time of the graveside service which will be held at 11:00am at the Swars Prairie Church of Christ Cemetery. Gale West will officiate the service and Native Rites will be performed by Chief Doug Lankford of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. The Lord’s prayer will be signed by Grace Lankford. Ceremonial cleansing will be performed prior to the services by Aubrey Lankford, Nathan Lankford, Kolby Lankford and Jerry Lankford.

June Gray

June Rose (Mitts) Gray passed away on Monday June 27, 2022. She was born on June 25, 1945, in Lamar, MO to Stanley and Lucy (Bourquin) Mitts. 

June married Gary Gray on February 5, 1962 in Liberal, MO and they remained married for 45 years until his death in 2007. They lived in Belton, MO and Sheldon, MO. 

June moved to Nevada, MO in 2020 to be closer to family. 








She worked as a custodian for many years for Marion Laboratories in Kansas City. June did not graduate from high school but attained her GED in 1977. This is a feat of which she was very proud. 

June was a member of the Milford Christian Church. She loved her pastor and church family and missed being able to attend services after her health declined. She was also a member of Mo-Kan Squares square dance club and enjoyed her time dancing with them as well. 

She is survived by her niece Sherry Jenkins and husband Skip of Nevada, MO; nephew Stan Farmer and wife Susie of Jefferson City, MO; nephew Ken David of Froelich, IA; nephew Frank Unertl of Pella, IA; niece Debbie Mason and husband Garry of Harrisonville, MO; and nephew Bill Griffitt of Lamar, MO; along with many other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. 








She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughters Nancy Ann Gray and Mary Jane Gray; and all of her siblings Stan Mitts; Bill Mitts; Pearl Felarski; Lurlene David; Creda Unertl and Louise Farmer. 

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Heart Association. 

The family will receive visitors on Thursday June 30, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and there will be a funeral service on Friday July 1, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home.

Mark Garfield

Mark Andrew Garfield, age 58, of Lamar, Missouri passed away June 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer.

Mark was born July 20, 1963 in Lamar, Missouri to Larry Earl Garfield and Dorris Darlene (Diggs) Garfield. Mark graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1981. 

On September 7, 1985, Mark married Kenda Jean Lehman in Lamar, MO. He later pursued his education at Global University and became a licensed minister.








Mark was the Pastor at Lamar First Assembly Church from 2013 until present. In 2009, Mark and his wife moved to Chicago, Illinois to help serve at Church on the Rock in Huntley, Illinois, where he was an Associate Pastor from 2009 - 2013. His previous years he served at Oakton United Methodist Church as a worship leader, bible study teacher as well as young adult groups. He was involved with the Ministerial Alliance and performed pastoral care at hospitals and nursing homes. 

Before going into fulltime ministry, Mark was a lineman at Barton County Rural Electric Co-Op. He enjoyed farming and was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis (Los Angeles) Rams and the L.A. Lakers.

Survivors include his wife Kenda; one daughter, Whitney (Jeffrey) Begley; one son, Parker (Ciara) Garfield all of Lamar; his parents, Larry and Dorris Garfield of Lamar; two brothers, Kent (Karen) Garfield of Lamar and Bryan (Carmen) Garfield of Naples, Florida; four grandchildren, Macey Garfield and Gracee Garfield of Lamar, Isaac Begley and Jacob Begley of Golden City, MO. His father and mother-in-law, Roy and Thelma Lehman; brother and sister-in-laws, Jerald (Connie) Lehman, Allen (Lisa) Lehman and Karma (Mark) Hartong all of Lamar.








Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Steve and Mildred Diggs and Earl and Velma Garfield, and sister-in-law, Penni Lehman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.,Wednesday, June 29, 2022 , at Oakton United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Oakton (Oak Grove) Cemetery in Lamar, MO.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Lamar First Assembly Church Building Fund in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

Mike Galbraith

Michael Dale Galbraith Sr, 76, of Webb City, Missouri, was a mighty fine man who would always say, “I’m doing better than I deserve." 

He teased and joked his way out of mortality after nibbling on a couple of bites of vanilla ice cream on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at NHC in Joplin, Missouri. Three of his daughters were nearby, singing to him and yakking his ear off.

Mike was born July 12, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents, Christopher E. and Shirley Harmon Galbraith preceded him in death. His siblings are Charles (who has since graduated mortality), Gerald, Leonard, Gordon, Melvin, Louise, and Dennis.








He married a smokin’ hot babe, Rita Stubbs (she’s been waiting for him to join her in heaven for over 6 years) on June 22, 1968, in Los Angeles, California. He is the father of seven rather pulchritudinous children and some fine kids-in-law: Misti and husband Tony Rennick of Swansea, Massachusetts, Michael Jr. and wife Beth of Palm Bay, Florida, David Galbraith of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Cassandra and husband Bryan Cleveland of Carthage, Missouri, Cathryn and husband Troy Burt of Diamond, Missouri, Suzanna and husband Kevin of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Nanette and husband Aaron Lemmon of Webb City, Missouri. He has 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Mike was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities (including a mission to the southern states when he was a young man). He also spread love everywhere he went. 








He was also a proud American and served in the Army during the Vietnam war. He prided himself on being an Administrator of Justice, possessed an impressive vocabulary, and almost unmatched Scrabble skills.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Joplin with Bishop Heath Merkley officiating. Burial will follow at Oronogo Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. 

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City.

Jim Andrews

Mr. James Alan “Jim” Andrews, 66, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday morning, June 21, 2022, in the comfort of his home after a five-year battle with cancer.

Jim entered this life on April 3, 1956, in Joplin, Missouri, born to the union of Wayne Lea and Martha LaMoine (Jacobson) Andrews. He was a lifelong area resident and a 1974, graduate of Parkwood High School.
For over thirty years, Jim was employed by Major Brands Fine Wines and Spirits as a sales rep. 







He enjoyed motorcycles, guitars, golfing, was a great bowler, watching Cardinal baseball and a football fan of both the KC Chiefs and Green Bay Packers.

His father, Wayne Andrews preceded him in death.

Jim is survived by his companion of eighteen years, Terry Edwards of the home; his two children, Jessica Andrews and Austin Andrews both of Joplin; his mother, Martha Lewis of Joplin; a brother, David Andrews of Anna, Texas; three sisters, Connie Russow of Joplin, Diane Simonds of Mt. Washington, Kentucky and Phyllis Richardson of Joplin; as well as a host of other family and countless friends.

Nathaniel Sutton

Nathaniel Ray Sutton, 71, of Chetopa, went home to be with Jesus at 1:17 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at his home.

He was born on December 17, 1950 in Abilene, TX to Ive Nathaniel and Lois Luevina (Turpin) Sutton.

He was an active member of the Glory Barn Church and loved attending church and telling people about Jesus. Nathaniel enjoyed joking with his friends, fishing, and spending time with his family.








Survivors include two daughters, Jewel Sutton of Chetopa and Holly Sutton of Salisaw, OK; stepson Jeremy Monson of Joplin; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Tina Pitcock (John) of Chetopa and sister-in-law, Rose Sutton of Chetopa.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Sutton.

Galen Culver

Mr. Galen Merle Culver passed away on Friday evening, June 24, 2022, at the age of 93 (just a few days shy of his 94th birthday). 

Galen was born on June 29th, 1928, to Roy and Leila Culver. He met his future wife Freda Wilkerson in Galena, Kansas, and the two were married in 1948.

Galen was drafted in January 1952 into the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed overseas in Okinawa as part of a mortar team. 









It was during this time that his first daughter, Connie was born. After returning to the States in December 1953, Galen and Freda had their second daughter, Diane, as well as their second son Donald (their first son Stanley having been stillborn).

Galen and Freda purchased a farm and he became a lifelong farmer; Galen also went to work at the B.F. Goodrich tire plant in Miami, Oklahoma, in the Quality Control Department. Galen would work the family farm on evenings and weekends, and he worked full-time for over 30 years at the tire plant until it closed in 1986.

Galen loved horses, having had a few during his lifetime, and he also loved farming with his John Deere tractors and farm implements. In their later years together Galen and Freda would go round dancing together.

Soft-spoken and gentle, Galen will be remembered for his remarkable kindness and willingness to help anyone out in their time of need. He greatly enjoyed spending family time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.








Galen was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Leila Culver, his wife Freda Culver, his sons Stanley and Donald Culver, his daughter Connie White, and his two sisters Helen Phillips and Ruth Coleman.

Galen is survived by his daughter Diane Hartman and son-in-law Matt Hartman of Joplin Missouri, his grandchildren Justin Townsend of Centerton, Arkansas; Adriane Townsend of Webb City, Missouri; Desiree Muir of Clever, Missouri; Denver Muir of Springfield, Missouri; Eric Golden and his wife Aimee Golden of Carl Junction, Missouri; Lisa Fogg of Carl Junction, Missouri, and Teresa Barrett and her husband Kyle Barrett of Webb City, Missouri. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Rev Dorcia Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Galena, KS.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association in care of the funeral home.

Bob Agan

Bobby Andrew Agan, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed on June 27, 2022 surrounded by his family following a long battle with cancer.

Bob was born March 3, 1938, outside of Sarcoxie, MO, to Charles and Mellie (Baker) Agan. 

As a young boy, Bob watched the soldiers come home from WWII in his hometown, which inspired him to later join the military. Bob served in the United States Navy from 1957-1959 in California. 








Following his Naval service, Bob worked at Vickers, H.E. Williams, and Flex-O-Laters. After many failed retirements, Bob finally retired in 2020.

Bob married Betty Fagg on June 7, 1969. They spent 53 years together in the same house, creating a life they loved. On January 5, 1972, Bob became a dad to his daughter Puddin’ Barbara Agan. On August 13, 1977 Bob’s son, Robert Andrew, was born sleeping.

A true outdoorsman, Bob spent most of his life outside. Bob’s sanctuary was 13 acres of his family’s farm outside of Sarcoxie, where he spent many hours hunting, training dogs, picking blackberries, and enjoying the serenity of nature. 

Bob spent many hours fishing at Roaring River with his homemade flies. An adventurer at heart, Bob loved to go on road trips to the West, as well as countless hunting and fishing trips with his friends. 

Bob began his relationship with Christ in his later years, and attended Freedom Christian Fellowship who supported and prayed for him relentlessly through his many illnesses.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Esther Sanders Clanton and Walter “Sam” Agan; his son Robert Andrew Agan; his nephew and wife Kenneth and Charletta Sanders; his niece and husband Pauline and Joe Owens.








Bob is survived by his wife Betty Agan (Fagg) of Sarcoxie, MO; daughter, Barbara (Scott) Hettinger of Webb City, MO; his grandson Trey (Jessica) Laveroni of Joplin, MO; his granddaughters Baylee (Colton) Pfitzner of Gulfport, MS, and Anna Hettinger of Webb City, MO; his great- granddaughters Hannah White and Millie Laveroni; and great-grandsons Creed Laveroni and Liam Pfitzner; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Bob is now able to fulfill a dream 44 years in the making: getting to embrace his son, Bobby.

Funeral services for Bob are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, with Pastors John Mitchell and Don Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Sarcoxie Cemetery. 








Those honoring his life by servicing as pallbearers are Jeremy Lawyer, Steve Haslip, Steve Sanders, Jimmy Reber, Wade Agan and Trey Laveroni. Honorary pallbearers are Dick Fagg, Gary Fagg, Danny Lee, Rob Greathouse, Carl Poindexter, Lyndall Craig, Bob Craig and Bobby Edwards. Ernie Cook

Earnest D. (Ernie) Cook, age 71 of Stella, Missouri, entered into rest on June 27, 2022, in Joplin, surrounded by his loving family. 

Ernie was born September 4, 1950, in Stella, Missouri, the youngest of five children to Roy and Ada (Haddock) Cook. Ernie graduated from McDonald High School in 1968 and was a lifelong area resident. 









He worked as a truckdriver for Willis Shaw Trucking Company, 1970-1977 and then as a truckdriver and sawyer for Heinz Brothers, 1977-1987. Ernie began working at Ozark Wood Products and worked there for 23 years and currently was working for Littlefield Cattle Company. He was a hard worker, a good provider and had a strong work ethic. 

Ernie loved to play the guitar started a band, ‘The Good Ole Boys’ and later played with the ‘McDonald County Playboys’. He loved to play his guitar and sing at church. Ernie was a member of the Union Chapel Church and had served as a deacon. 

On August 5, 1970, Ernie and Cathy L. (Wilson) were united in marriage in Oklahoma and Cathy survives. 

In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by three children, Bryan Smith and wife, Tammera of Stella, Shelly Capps and husband, Mike of Neosho and Chris Cook and wife, Janice of Granby; three grandsons, Riley Capps, Chase Capps, and Christian Cook; three granddaughters, Hadley Smith, Brynne Smith and Jayden Capps and a brother, Vernie Cook and wife, Mildred of Neosho. 








In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Katherine Oaks and Doris Foster and a brother, Oren Cook. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 2 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby; with interment to follow in the Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Thursday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home.

Gary Bullington

Gary Lynn Bullington was born July 29, 1950 in Granby, Missouri, one of four children to Loyd K. and Audrey K. (Senter) Bullington. He entered into rest on June 26, 2022 at his home in Granby, Missouri at the age of 71. 

Gary was a lifelong area resident and graduated of Triway High School. He had worked at Big Smith, Buddy -L/Sunbeam and as a dairy farmer. He enjoyed quail hunting and was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. 








On February 12, 1972, Gary and Dixie Lee Preston were united in marriage at Sweetwater Baptist Church and she survives. 

In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by four children, David Bullington and wife, Terri of Granby, Michael Bullington and wife, Amy of Joplin, Steven Bullington and wife, Amanda of Seneca and Brittany Holmes and husband, Travis of Goodman; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Denny Bullington and wife, Jackie of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Donald Bullington and wife, Sandra of Neosho and a sister, Linda Woolery of Neosho. 

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Lena Wadino

Lena Agnes Faye (Proffitt) Wadino 85, of Webb City, Mo. formally Scammon, Ks. Passed peacefully away surrounded by her six children and family.

Lena was born March 1, 1937 in Columbus, Ks. to John William and Mary Elva Proffitt (Getman). Lena was a 1956 graduate of West Mineral High School. She worked in the cafeteria for 20 years for Columbus School District at Scammon Elementary.








Anyone who knew Lena, knew she loved to cook and bake. Her bread and cinnamon rolls were always a crowd pleaser. Lena married the love of her life Joe Wadino on July 7, 1956. They had 33 years together. Lena and Joe raised six children and entertained many friends and loved ones in their home in Scammon.
Lena did the cooking while Joe shared stories. Lena loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren loved spending time with her. She had a soft spoken way about her that drew people to her.

Lena was a Christian woman who shared her faith and trust in Jesus with all who knew her. Lena was a prayer warrior and believed in the power of prayer. She was always faithful to pray for the needs of others.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, six brothers Dale Sharp (infant), David Sharp, Ira Sharp, Eddie Sharp, John Proffitt (Jr.), and Chuck Proffitt and four sisters Mildred Gentry, Ida West, Ann Love, and Sue Mead Torneden.

Survivors include: one son Tom (Judy) Wadino Parson, Ks., Five daughters Cathy (Brad) Bigando Joplin, Mo., Vicki Wadino(Mitch Bicknell) Pittsburg, Ks., Susan (Michael) Knapps Joplin, Mo., Sandra (Kelly) McClintick Franklin, Ks., and Sonya Templin(Harley Darnell) Oklahoma City, Ok. One brother Don Proffitt Pleasanton, Ks, and one sister-in-law Patsy Proffitt Cherokee, Ks. 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Bath-Naylor Fuenral Home in Weir, KS.








The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 1-2 pm at the funeral home in Weir.
Burial will follow at St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Scammon Ks.

Mary Raper

Mary Beatrice Raper, age 71, of Lamar, Missouri passed away June 23, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Mary was born October 4, 1950 in Graff, Missouri to David Benjamin Ratterree and Mable Marie (Hutsell) Ratterree. Mary graduated from Mountain Grove High School in the class of 1968. On July 20, 1968 Mary married Anthony (Jim) Raper at Hopewell Baptist Church in Bendavis, Missouri.








Mary was a devout believer and found comfort in her Christian faith. She loved spending time with family, as a dedicated wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

In her retirement years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy. She especially looked forward to yearly family reunions in Mountain Grove, MO., where she would spend time catching up with her beloved family. Between family visits she enjoyed the company of her dogs Rocky and Max. And she never passed up the opportunity to visit flea markets, shopping with her daughter Kristy. 








Mary especially enjoyed being outside around water. There were canoeing adventures with her son BJ and husband Jim. And, at one time even had a pool built in her backyard, not for her to swim, but to enjoy basking in the sun. Friends and family were warned, don't dare splash Mary with water.

Mary worked for many years at O'Sullivan Industries in Lamar until her retirement. She worked in the packing department. Both Mary and her late husband Jim enjoyed the car scene, and they founded and ran the MO West Street Machine Car Show, which ultimately was the beginning of the hot rod shows that are now part of the Lamar Fair.

Survivors include one daughter, Kristy (Terry) Kinney of Lamar; four grandchildren, Brian (Kimberly) Raper of Coffeyville, Kansas, Kelly Coy of Lamar, David (Angel) Murphy of Springfield, Missouri and Jazmin Murphy of Lamar; bonus grand-blessings, Frankie (Brandon) Murphy of Lamar, Alishia Chapman of Maryland, Tearria Kinney of New York; four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Shawn, Willa and Jaelyn; one brother, Benny (Tammy) Ratterree of Cassville, Missouri; two sisters, Marie (Elmer) Ault of Millbrook, Alabama and Diana (Gary) Harrison of Mountain Grove, MO., along with many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; one son, William Jack (B.J.) Raper and two brothers, Jimmy Ratterree and Kenny Ratterree.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Sandra Wilson

Mrs. Sandra Kay Harper Wilson, 78, of Joplin, Missouri, was surrounded by her loving family as she traded her earthly wings for her heavenly crown of gold and entered into the presence of our Lord on Friday, June 24, 2022, while at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Sandra entered this life on January 5, 1944, in Webb City, Missouri, one of three daughters born to the late Jack and Lovetta (Bowen) Goodwin. The majority of her life was spent in Webb City and Joplin. 

On August 7, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kermit Harper and to this union two daughters were born, Carla and Faith. 








Sandra believed in hard work. She was employed at the former Jane Chinn Hospital as a nurse and respiratory therapist, Madison Animal Clinic as a vet assistant and later owned and operated Waggin Tails dog grooming parlor. She attended worship services at the Sanctuary of Joplin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Kermit Harper, Wayne Waggoner, Willie Hunter and Ronald Wilson; and two sisters, Jean Greenfield and Vicky Goodwin.

Sandra is survived by her two daughters, Carla Harper Martin and Faith Harper Sargent; eight grandchildren, Steven Arnold Yeager and wife, Denise, LaDeana Harper, Salem Clouse, Tanesha Harper Farmer and husband, B.J., Tyrell Harbin, Wesley Sargent, Taya Sargent and Trace Sargent; two bonus grandchildren, Amber and Cindy Spradley; ten great grandchildren, Reese Miller, Davin Clouse, Briley Miller, Tanner Clouse, Wyatt Dunn, Holister Miller, Bowen Arnold Yeager, Bryce Farmer and wife, Shelby, Madison Farmer and Khloe Harbin; one great-great grandson, Kai Miller; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Sue Pace

Sue Ann Pace, age 64, of Wyandotte, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Freeman West Hosptial in Joplin.

Sue, daughter of the late Estel and Betty (Pequignot) Armer, was born on October 27, 1957 in Slaton, TX. 

She worked in health care most of her life and was previously employed in hospitality working at the Rivera Hotel and the Sands Hotel in Joplin.






 

Sue was a devoted and caring mother and grandmother, always selflessly giving of herself to anyone in the family. She enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid collector of unicorns, dolls, and Elvis memorabilia. She loved to listen and dance to country music and take trips to the casino. Her favorite times spent with family were during the holidays, baking and making cookies, divinity and fudge. Sue will be missed by all her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Christen Hylton, of Springfield, and Cheyene Gordon, both of Joplin; grandchildren, Zachery Armer, Alexis Kearby, Hanna Leyda, Layla Gordon, Dalyn Baker, Ivy Gordon, Katy Gordon, and Makenzee Hylton; siblings, Tom Armer, and his wife, Brenda, Deborah Patterson, Steve Armer, and his wife, Rachel, Becky Ramsey, and her husband, Ryan, and Kenny Enochs, and his wife, Carrie; and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends. 

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Keith Gordon, her sister, Cathy Davidson, and two grandchildren, Kelsey Armer, and Max Gordon.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Parker Mortuary.

Harley Johnson

Harley Gene Johnson, age 84, of Pierce City, MO passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022. He was born in Cassville, MO on August 4, 1937; son of Samuel and Lena (Wierman) Johnson. 

He married Rose Ann Jarvis on October 6, 1959, in Lucerne, CA. He owned HG Johnson Wood Product in Pierce City, MO. Harley had a life-long career in the lumber industry, working in logging, sawmilling, and architectural millwork.








One of his life-long passions was music. He was self-taught on the fiddle and mandolin and enjoyed playing with other musicians. He competed in fiddling contests and was the MC and performed at a local hootenanny in his younger days. He attended many bluegrass festivals and followed numerous artists that also featured fiddlers.

Harley’s greatest pride was his family; his Rosey of 62 years together with their 7 children witnessed his life and dreams. He found strength in his brothers and sisters, and he always had a story to share and kept us all entertained. His life was greatly enriched by everyone he met.

Surviving are the following: his wife, Rose Ann Johnson of the home; three sons, Mike (Yuksel) Johnson of Tulsa, OK, Kevin (Mileigh) Johnson of Pierce City, MO, and Mark Johnson of Wentworth, MO; two daughters, Marie (Jerry) Elbert of Lorena, TX and Valerie (Danny) Greenwell of Vine Grove, KY; two brothers, Jim Johnson of Wentworth, MO and Sam Johnson of Fayetteville, AR; two sisters, Lowee Benjamin of Ukiah, CA and Mary Elliott of Ukiah, CA; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren with another expected to arrive in November; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.








Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lena Johnson; two sons, James Johnson and Darrell Johnson; and a daughter-in-law, Laura Johnson.

Wallace Smith

Wallace F. Smith, 91, of Mindenmines, MO, passed away peacefully at 11:38 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at his residence.

He was born October 15th, 1930, at rural Mindenmines, MO, the son of Louis H. and Agnes (Rummel) Smith.

On September 16, 1952, he was united in marriage to Margie Stevens at the Nashville Christian Church, Nashville, MO. Together they celebrated 69 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on November 22, 2021.








Wallace was a lifetime farmer and also was a coal miner for P&M Coal Company. Membership was held in the Mindenmines Christian Church.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Smith (Sondra) of Mindenmines, MO, and Kevin Smith (Nancy) of Mindenmines, MO, one daughter, Joan Cantrell (Clint) of Mindenmines, MO, one daughter in law, Sally Smith of Carl Junction, MO, one brother, Ralph (Dolly) Smith of Liberal MO, two sisters, Louise Ellis of Grove, OK, and Eva (Kenny) Umphenour of Afton, OK, nine grandchildren, Melissa Hart, Garrett Smith, Amanda Janssen, Kim Barnhart, Steve Smith, Heather Smith, Thomas Smith, Beth Cantrell and Callista Smith, and three great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, and Ezra Hart.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jerry Smith.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Smith is set for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Mindenmines Christian Church, Mindenmines, MO, with Reverend Dan Moss officiating. Brenda Lowe

Brenda Carol (Mullins) Lowe, age 66, of Aurora, Missouri passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022 at her daughter’s home.

She was born October 28, 1955 in Georgetown, Ohio to Foster and Verna Mae (Saylor) Mullins. 

On February 21, 1981 she was united in marriage to Loren Lowe, Jr., who preceded her in death on December 18, 2020. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Loren Lowe, III; one grandson, Mason Lowe and niece, Misty Bray.

Vernon, Missouri and Amanda Bowen and her husband Justin of Cassville, Missouri; one sister, Tammy Needham and her husband Bill of Midland, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Brenda grew up in Ohio graduating from Blanchester High School in Blanchester, Ohio. She moved here from Ohio and had lived in this area for forty years. She worked at Tyson and Walmart for several years and was most recently employed by the Cassville Senior Center where she cooked and helped deliver meals for five years. 








Some of her pastimes were tending her flowers, watching the PBR and St. Louis Cardinal baseball games as she was an avid Cardinals fan. Brenda enjoyed going on the truck with Jr and family gatherings. She loved her dog Tator but she especially loved her family and spending time with them.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Loy Bowen will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Cassville.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time Wednesday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
