Mike Greenstreet

(From Parker Mortuary)

Michael Lee “Mike” Greenstreet, Sr., age 75, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Mercy of Springfield surrounded by his family after a sudden illness.

Mike was born July 24, 1946, in Joplin, he was the son of Howard O. and Freda Mae (Hymer) Greenstreet. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1964.

He went to the Joplin Business College before serving in the US Air Force in Tacoma, WA retiring as a Staff Sergeant.

During his four years in Washington, Mike met the love of his life, Rita Ann, to whom he was happily married for 55 years, and welcomed their daughter Michelle Lynn into the world.

Mike and his young family moved back to the Joplin area where he went on to start and co-own his television business of 36 years, Four State TV. There he found joy in working with his sons, Michael Lee Jr, Daniel Erick, and close family and friends.

Through the years, Mike was invited to sing at many places in the Joplin and local communities and many times at his home church of 41 years, Forest Park Baptist Church. After a massive fire destroyed the business, Mike felt the Lord call him to music ministry full-time.

With the words from Psalm 69:30 in his heart, Mike turned his focus and devoted his talents and time to building his music ministry. Mike blessed many people through the last years of his life with his wonderful, deep singing voice and his gift of networking. He gave worship to his Lord Jesus Christ with every song he sang and made a loving circle of musical friends.

Mike was a devoted and loving family man. His family enjoyed his passion for country music and coming together for family time and guitar picking. There was always laughter, good food, and an occasional domino game.

Over the years Mike's family grew to a large number with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are all blessed by the remarkable force of Mike’s loyal love, the theology that he carried out his whole life, and the many memories they’ve made with him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Rita Ann (Erickson) Greenstreet; children, Michelle Wicks of Springfield, MO, Michael L. Greenstreet, Jr., and wife Lynn also of Springfield, and Daniel Greenstreet and wife Sarah of Sarcoxie, MO; grandchildren, Meagan Jennings and husband Stephen of Webb City, MO, Michael Z.
