Clayton Koile

Clayton Darrel Koile, age 85, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Clayton was born January 17, 1937 in Ashland, Wisconsin, son of the late Keith Koile and Agnes Swanson Koile. He worked as a mechanic and retired from Empire District Electric after more than twenty-five years. 

He loved spending time with his wife, family and friends, riding his motorcycle, farming, raising cattle, collecting antique tractors, gardening, raising crops, hunting, and the outdoors. 








He was a dedicated family man, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and had a strong faith. He will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca R. Koile, of 62 years who passed away on February 16, 2019, his brothers Keith Koile, Jr., Leon “Swede” Koile, Lowell Koile and Clinton Koile; his sisters Madeline Starling and Alice Koile, and son-in-law, Don “Buk” Buchanan.

Survivors include his daughters, Beverly Buchanan of Marshall, Arkansas, Brenda Bright and husband Stacey of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Kimberly Koile-Placencia and husband Pete of Hudson, Florida, and Kristi Weston and husband Justin of Joplin; 11 grandchildren, Mark Buchanan, John Buchanan, Cody Buchanan, Darrell Booher, Christopher Booher, Kyla Bright, Scotty Bright, Megan Jones, Tucker Eads, Shaye Weston, and Drake Weston; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Darlene Christian of Palestine, Texas; many beloved nieces and nephews, and close friends.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 10:00 am at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, 602 S Byers Avenue, Joplin, MO 64801 with Brad Holman and Jennifer Horton officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Cemetery, 415 N St. Louis, Joplin, MO 64801 with grandchildren serving as his pallbearers and Daniel Farris officiating.

The family will receive friends at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
