Clyde Stephens

Clyde Robert Stephens, 90, of Wentworth, Missouri passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on June 17, 2022. Clyde was born in Wentworth, Missouri to Verney Ray Stephens and Luna Pearl (Griffin) Stephens on April 30, 1932. Clyde married Kay Erwin on June 17, 1951 at the Presbyterian Church of Wentworth.

Following graduation from Sarcoxie High School in 1950, Clyde proudly served in the United States Air Force for 26 years and 13 days.






 

Most of his military career was within the Security Service (Intelligence) division where he was stationed overseas in the Philippines, Alaska (twice), Vietnam and Germany. Upon retirement from the military in San Antonio, Texas effective August, 1976, Clyde returned to his Wentworth home and continued to eagerly serve his community as an active member of the Village of Wentworth council for over 44 years.


Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, two older brothers, Thomas Gene and Sterling Stephens and sister, Allis Armstrong, plus, sons-in-law, Calvin Weiss and Marc Roberson.

Clyde is survived by his wife Kay, daughters Monna Roberson, Donna Weiss and Kristi Roller (Rodney). Grandchildren include Scott Weiss (Teena), Dr. Alicia Castello (Keith), Anthony Sandoval (Diana), Cassie Brewer (Jason) and Jodie Berry. Plus, bonus grandchildren, Stacey (Chris) Higgins, Shane Weiss (Shannon), Shawn (Dennis) Satre, Marc Roberson, and Lynn (Jeff) Klepac. Great-grandchildren include Forrest and Sydney Weiss, Kaycee Gibson-Weiss, Daniel, Isabella, Dominic, and Elizabeth Sandoval, Aiden and Timothy Castello. Mason, and Zack Brewer, and Ethan and Christopher Berry, and Colton Butts. Plus, Austin and Carson Higgins, Brennon (Kelley) Satre, Jacob and Meredith Satre, and Logan Weiss. Great-great-grandson Calvin Satre.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Lakin Funeral Home, Pierce City on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 10:30 am. Visitation precedes service from 9:30 to 10:30am. Internment at the Sarcoxie Cemetery will be held immediately after.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute donations to the Village of Wentworth in the Memory of Clyde R Stephens, 106 Chestnut, Wentworth, Mo. 64873. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
