(From Parker Mortuary)Betty Ruth Nagel, age 82, Carthage, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at her home.
Betty was born September 24, 1940 in Klamath Falls, Oregon, daughter of the late Roy Givens and Josephine (Harris) Givens.
She grew up in Granby, Missouri where she graduated from Granby High School before enlisting in the United States Navy. She served for four years before moving to Austin, Texas where she worked with the Austin Police Department for several years, and then moved to Salamanca, New York to marry Charles “Buzzy” Nagel on June 25, 1966.
They moved to Avilla, Missouri in 1973 where she devoted her time to taking care of her family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Sheep Shed in Neosho.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Buzzy Nagel, who passed away on September 24, 2021. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her children, Jennifer Snow and husband Tom of Carthage, Pat Nagel of Joplin, and Larry Nagel and wife Cammie of Reeds, Missouri; six grandchildren, Zeb Reed, Arad Reed, Hannah Reed, Brandon Clemons (Bailie), Ana Talley (Cody), and Madison Nagel; five great-grandchildren, Knox, Archer, Chad, Hunter, and Hadley; several nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
