Allan Webb

Allan Calvert Webb was born at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, Missouri, on December 9th, 1939. He was born into Forest Park Baptist Church in which his mother and father were already faithful members. His older sister Judy, a toddler, was happily enrolled in the church’s nursery. Allan attended Forest Park loyally for over eighty-four years. He and his family love/loved this church and attended every opportunity.

Allan passed away on August 20th, 2024, at the Solace House in Joplin, surrounded by his wife and daughter, following a stay at Wildwood Ranch. He was secure in his belief that he would be transcending to his Heavenly home for eternity after his earthly battle with cancer.

Allan attended Webb City Schools and graduated with the class of 1957. He then entered the Army as a soldier in the 101st Airborne. There, he succeeded in becoming a Sergeant, Master Jumper, and an Army Ranger. In late 1960, he began his career as a purchasing agent for multiple businesses and industries. Among the most notable were, Newman’s Department Store, FAG Bearings, Ace Electric, Midcon Cables, and Superior Industries of Pittsburg, Kansas. Not one to be idle, Allan continued his purchasing ability for Triple T Foods of Frontenac, Kansas, after his retirement. Stating that he was tired of the drive to Frontenac, especially in winter weather, he retired once again. However, not for long! Allan was a car fanatic. He was offered the position of a dealer exchange driver for Frank Fletcher’s Subaru followed by an offer from Skyway Buick as well. He drove for both all over the entire Midwest region. He would often drive more than sixteen hours a day. He enjoyed the many scenic drives, people he met, and places he chose to eat. Allan was blessed with a family of note-worthy cooks. He always looked forward to the family get togethers’ and holidays. He was also a fan of the local restaurants. A favorite activity was dining out with his brother Henry, who also loves to dine out as well. They would go to the Sirloin Stockade in Carthage most Saturday’s. They were often accompanied by their beloved sister Judy. It was a tradition that brought him much joy.

Allan was a man of few words. He loved his family deeply even though he was not one to always express those feelings openly. He was a dedicated worker and a determined provider to the very end. He strove diligently for his child and grandchildren to be highly educated and successful in life. He was a nature lover and would sit on the patio for hours watching the birds drink and take their daily baths in the fishpond. He would let the rabbits eat the few strawberries that the birds and turtles had missed. He enjoyed the butterflies, bees, and friendly hummingbirds that would come right up to him. He enjoyed the flowers, plants, and trees and wanted a lush yard. Having said that, it should probably also be inserted here that he desired these wonders of nature as long as someone else took care of them. One could even say, laughingly, that he was not a lover of yard work. Allan was a pluviophile, meaning he was a lover of rainy days. He enjoyed the very sight and sound of rain as long as he hadn’t washed the cars the previous day. God’s creations were Heaven on earth to him.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Webb; his sisters, Judy Webb; and Margaret Woods. Allan is survived by his wife, Faith (Cochran) Webb, of sixty-three years. They have one daughter, Deborah Fitzgerald, E.d.S (Tom) of Riverton, Kansas; two grandsons, Tad (Jenna) Stricker of Olathe, Kansas, Paris Pacheco MD (Morgan), of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and four great grandchildren; Arden Stricker, Olive Stricker, Graysen Pacheco, and Noah Pacheco. Allan is also survived by his beloved brother and constant companion, Henry Webb, nephew Kevin (Linda) Hayes, niece Sandy (Jeff) Baker and niece Teresa (Lance) Rogers.

A visitation will be held Saturday September 14, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Forest Park Baptist Church followed by an 11:00 A.M. Celebration of Life at the same location. Immediately following this celebration, family and friends are cordially invited to attend a military salute honoring Allan’s time served in the Army.
