Dennis Clyde Patterson, 68, passed away peacefully in his home on August 28, 2024 in Carl Junction, Missouri after a recent decline in health.
Dennis was born Friday, December 23, 1955 in Granby, Missouri. He was the oldest of six children of the late John Patterson and Dorothy (Moffett) Patterson. He grew up on the Patterson family farms in Granby and graduated from East Newton in 1973.
Dennis really enjoyed being an uncle and was affectionately known as “Uncle Denny” to his many nieces and nephews. He was a great storyteller, and always had interesting thoughts to share about books he had read and funny stories from his younger years. Some of his tales were beyond belief, but they were always entertaining.
He enjoyed playing chess, reading, history, politics, science, math, writing, gardening, and most recently, Netflix! He had a love for animals and had many dear four-legged friends over the years. In his last months he found great enjoyment with his cat, Emma.
Denny especially loved visits with his family, and always had an open door and a smile for whoever dropped by. He wanted to make sure all of his family knew how much he loved them and loved the time he spent with them.
He leaves behind two sisters, Deborah Bradley of Carthage and Denise (Dan) Graves of Carl Junction; two brothers, Dan Patterson of Monett and Joe (Kim) Patterson of Springfield; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends and other family.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Donna Combs; and his brother-in-law, Dale Bradley.
No services are planned, but a private family burial will be held at Hazel Green Cemetery. The family gives a special thanks to his hospice team, Gentiva, for providing him with compassionate and respectful care in his last months.
