Kathy Sherrill

Kathleen "Kathy" Sherrill, 93, Diamond, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Solace House, Joplin, Missouri. She was born on May 9, 1931, in Saginaw, Missouri, the daughter of the late Alvin S. Uttley and Delpha (Sharp) Uttley. Kathy's life was a testament to her faith-filled spirit and her unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Kathy grew up in the small town of Saginaw, where she attended Saginaw High School, laying the foundations for her future success. She had a strong work ethic and a lively intelligence that would later define her professional life. Following her education, she married Charles Richard Sherrill, on July 1, 1950, in Hardy, Arkansas. Together they shared a wonderful life of 72 years together, raising children and creating lasting memories. Charles preceded her in death on May 21, 2023.

Following her education, Kathy embarked on a fulfilling career as a tax accountant with Baird, Kurtz, and Dobson LLP in Joplin, Missouri. Her meticulous nature and innate understanding of numbers made her a respected figure in her field. Beyond her professional achievements, Kathy was a cherished member of the Diamond Christian Church in Diamond, Missouri. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. 

Kathy's involvement in her church was not just a reflection of her belief but also of her desire to serve and contribute to her community. Kathy had a gift for making others feel valued and loved, and her presence was a source of comfort and joy.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Alan Sherrill (Charlene "Charlie"), Kalispell, Montana, and Charles Lee "Chuck" Sherrill (Teresa), Diamond, Missouri; her four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Doris Jean Yeakey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Diamond Christian Church, Diamond, Missouri. The burial will follow at the Diamond Cemetery.
