(From Knell Mortuary)Douglas Merle Krause, 69, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Tuesday evening, January 25, 2022 at Cox South Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri, with his sons, Beau and Garrett, by his side.
Douglas was born December 15, 1952 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, the son of Roger Krause and Elizabeth “Betty” (Doak) Krause. He was a 1971 graduate of Belle Fourche High School, then attended Black Hills State College in South Dakota.
Douglas was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from April 27, 1972 to April 26, 1975.
He married Diane Fergeson and to this union, one child, Beau, was born; they later divorced. He then married Lisa Sherron, and to this union another child, Garrett, was born. He was a mechanic, working on boilers, air compressors, wastewater, and refrigeration. Douglas enjoyed working, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Krause; two sons, Beau Douglas Krause (Crystal), and Garrett Krause; three grandchildren, Kaden Douglas Krause, Jensen Krause, and Kennedi Krause; a brother, Dan Krause (Patricia); a sister, Gloria Key; a nephew, Jason Douglas Krause (Tawni); a nephew, Michael Key (Tina); and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Krause; wife, Lisa Krause; and brother-in-law, Dave Key.
Memorial services will be held 7 pm, Friday, February 4, 2022 at Carterville Christian Church, Carterville, Missouri. Burial will be held in June at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project in care of Knell Mortuary.
