(From Knell Mortuary)Thomas Reed Ashens, 67, Carthage, Missouri, passed away early Sunday morning, January 30, 2022 at his home. Thomas was born April 24, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Jerry Ashens and Patricia Richardson.
Thomas was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army until his retirement. He was a sole proprietor, owning and operating several businesses after his retirement from the military. Thomas attended Oasis Church in Joplin, Missouri. He loved working on his classic cars, especially his Corvettes, and also had a hobby farm where he raised pigs, chickens, goats, and cattle.
Survivors include four sons, Randy Ashens of Tennessee, Oliver Ashens of New York, Stewart Ashens of Missouri, and William “Henry” Ashens of Arizona; a daughter, Lucy Ashens of Missouri; a brother, Jack Duncan; two sisters, Rose Sorrell, and Barbara Miller O’Brien; numerous grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Ashens; his mother, Patricia Duncan; and a daughter, Beth Ashens.
Per Thomas’s request, there was cremation. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
I learned and laughed so much from this Man. His Humor and easy laugh was the best. My Dad and Tom shared many a cup of coffees , talking about old times and the future. Was able to watch from a distant as his 3 sons grew up to be great men. You are missed Tom.
