David Campbell

David Wayne Campbell, 72, passed away on November 14, 2023, at his home. He was born in Joplin, Missouri on May 9, 1951.

David was a 1969 graduate of Mount Vernon High School where he excelled in music. He was a gifted piano player as well as trumpet and baritone player in high school and college. David attended Missouri Southern State College where he studied music and played baritone in the band. 







During the Vietnam War, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a communication specialist in Hawaii and Greece, as well as in the U.S. After the war, David worked as a salesman for Signal-Stat in Memphis, Tennessee, and as a paramedic in Southwest Missouri for nearly 30 years. He was retired for a number of years and recently earned his bachelor’s degree in theology from Gulf Coast Seminary.

David is survived by his mother, Josephine Campbell and his brothers, Doug and Darrel, as well as his sons, Zachery Campbell and Quinn Campbell, and two daughters, Kimberly Alexander and Jessica Campbell. David was proud to be blessed with ten grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his father, Jack Campbell; infant daughter, Brittany, and nephew, Casey Campbell.

David always said, “The greatest gift my mother and father gave me was a Christian home and a love for the piano that lasted enriched my whole life.”







A simple 10-minute graveside service under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery pavilion located at 5201 South Southwood, Springfield, Missouri. Charles Graham is officiating. All family and friends are welcome.

In lieu of flowers or tree planting donations, donations may be sent to the Campbell children (Zac Campbell) and sent to the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home.
