Connie Parmenter

Connie Shirley Parmenter, 62 of Carl Junction Missouri passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 15, 2024 after a long battle with COPD.

Connie was born on December 24, 1961 to Dorothy (Clemons) and William Tandy in Webb City, Missouri. Connie graduated from Webb City High school in 1980 and in 1983 she welcomed her daughter Ashley.

In 1996 she married Korde Parmenter and they began a life in Jefferson City, MO. Connie poured herself into her passion of working with children.

Over her 25-year career, she earned her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, a testament to her deep commitment to providing high-quality care and education to young children. As an infant-toddler coordinator, she became a true expert in her field, known for her exceptional ability to create nurturing and developmentally appropriate environments for the youngest learners.

Her expertise was not just in understanding the developmental needs of infants and toddlers but also in mentoring and guiding her colleagues. She was often the go-to person for advice and support, known for her patience, empathy, and unwavering dedication to the well-being of the children in her care. Her experience allowed her to anticipate the needs of both the children and their families, providing a level of care that was both compassionate and highly informed by best practices in early childhood education.

Throughout her career, she remained passionate about her work, continuously seeking out new knowledge and techniques to enhance the care she provided. Her dedication to the early childhood industry made a lasting impact on the lives of countless children and their families, as well as on the professionals who were fortunate enough to learn from her expertise.

In 2022 Connie reluctantly retired from childcare due to health issues. She and Korde relocated to Carl Junction to be closer to family. She enjoyed playing solitaire on her iPad, watching tv, loving on her Shih Tzu, Star but most of all she enjoyed stories and visits from her grandchildren, Miles (11), Nora (8) and Ellie (3).

Connie loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. Even in the hospital her last week, she went out of her way to be kind to the nurses, doctors and social workers to make them feel appreciated and also to lighten the mood with something silly or spunky.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Ashley (Matt) Shead and three grandchildren, Miles, Nora and Ellie; her siblings, Bill (Marilyn) Tandy, Cindy (Daniel) Hollingshead, and Marty Tandy as well as her husband, Korde, 3 stepchildren, 11 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
