(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)Phillip Dean Day, age 87, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 1:27 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at National Health Care in Joplin, Missouri. He was born August 1, 1937, in Burna, Kentucky, the son of Jess Willard and Virgie Iona (Wadley) Day.
Phillip was a truck driver for Nick Transport in Mt. Vernon, Missouri and was a member of the Ozark High Riders 4 x 4 Club.
Phillip is survived by his four children, Loretta Gaches and her husband, Ronnie, of Duenweg, Missouri, Barbara Mackie of Stotts City, Missouri, Steve Day and his wife, Melissa, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, Randy Day and his wife, Tracy, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri and their mother, Mary Garrett, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; one sister, Pat Dodson and her husband, Ronnie, of Paducah, Kentucky; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, with one on the way and three great-great grandchildren, with one on the way.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Virgie; sister, Virginia Swift and brother, Jack Day.
A celebration of life will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Online condolences may be shared at www.FossettMosherFuneralHome.com.
