Barry Hamlin

Barry W. Hamlin quietly slipped from this life on Friday, October 17 at the age of 85 at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Carthage MO after a rapid decline in health. He owned Hamlin Excavating in Carl Junction but driving a dump truck and using heavy equipment is hard on the body and had to “retire” after a final debilitating injury.

He was the neighborhood “Mr Fix It” for kid’s bikes and jumped more than 1 teenager’s car. He could pretty much fix anything! He always joked that his red tube glue would fix anything!

Later in life he enjoyed having coffee with friends, hanging out at The Lilly Pad in CJ for biscuits/gravy as well as dining the Sr. Center for lunch where he developed many treasured friendships.

He was preceded in death by many he loved including his beloved Mary Lou. They were married 50 years. She left her earthly body in July 2020 at the age of 80 after a long and sad battle with dementia. Mary brought 3 kids to the marriage and Barry 1. Together, they had 1 daughter, Barri LeAnn. She was the apple of their eyes as well as her husband Mike and 2 beloved grandsons Peyton & Gabriel.

No services are planned at this time but potentially a celebration of life after the holidays as the body was cremated.
