(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Debra Ann Gowens, age 73, passed away suddenly Thursday morning, November 20, 2025 at her home.
Debra was born April 29, 1952 in Joplin, Missouri. Her parents were Floyd Adams and Mildred Merrill. She was a lifetime resident of Galena. She attended Galena schools.
She was a homemaker. At one time, she worked for her brother at Kennedy Cleaners, Joplin, for about year and half. She dedicated her life and her love to her children and grandchildren
Debra was married to Leon Gowens on June 1, 1968 in Joplin. MO. He survives.
Additional survivors include 3 sons, Doug Gowens (Kristy) Galena, Justin Adams and Dustin Adams, both of Joplin; nine grandchildren, Katelin Thomas (Trey), Kaycee Gowens, Jakob Gowens, Hailey Harper (Zack), Carressa Jensen, Jesse Adams, Maycee Adams, Sarayea Morey, and Daxton Adams; and seven great-grandchildren, Bentley, Cooper, Zaiden, Kamryn, Ayden, Sophia and Kensley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeffery Gowens; five brothers, Clyde Adams, Bobby Adams, Floyd Dean Adams, Donny Tipton, and Jerry Tipton; and four sisters, Phyllis Wilder, Norma Hignite, and Carol Hicks and Vicki Adams who died in infancy.
She was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena KS for cremation. No services are planned at this time.
