David Bailey

(From Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home)

Douglas David Bailey, 55, entered into the glory of the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025. He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on July 21, 1970, to Bill and Lynda Bailey. He was the last of four children. His family lovingly called him D. David all throughout his life.

David graduated from Poteau High School in Poteau, Oklahoma in 1989. He briefly attended Crowder College in Neosho, where he met Christy Kay Weaver. David and Christy were married on November 21, 1991. They had two children, Zach and Lizy.

David was a member of the Gathering church in Monett, where he enjoyed worshipping with his friends and family. He loved football, being an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Sooners. He loved to read, especially science fiction. He was a skilled artist, excellent at drawing portraits. He almost never lost a game of Scrabble.

David is preceded in death by his father, Billy Don Bailey.

David is survived by his wife, Christy; his son Zach and wife Brittany; his daughter Lizy; three grandchildren, Kalvin, Henry, and Claira; his mother Lynda; brother Bill, Jr., and wife April; sister Annette Hinshaw, and husband Andrew; sister Stephanie Darlene Holstead, and husband Mark Earwood; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

David loved his family and enjoyed being Pops to his grandchildren more than anything else. He was an inspiration to his children. He was the best husband, the best dad, the best Pops, and the best friend one could ask for. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Amongst his last words to nurses, he encouraged them to have faith in God. It is with that faith that he left this world and moved onto the next. He is now rejoicing with Jesus.

The visitation for David will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. He will be buried at Oakdale Cemetery in Monett.
