Ernest Darby

(From Parker Mortuary)

Ernest Darby, a cherished soul known for his boundless generosity and kind-hearted nature, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Joplin, MO, at the age of 51. Born on April 22, 1974, in Maryland, Ernie's life was a testament to the power of optimism and the strength of family bonds.

Ernest, affectionately known by all as simply Ernie, was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Casey Darby. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support for one another. He was a pillar of strength and love for his family, including his mother, Sheryl Turnbull; his sons, Davis Darby of Joplin, MO, and Kian Darby of Massachusetts; his daughter, Blakley Darby of Springfield, MO; his stepson, Eli Ward; and his siblings, Dillon Hines, Johnny Hamilton, and Kristee Hurd. Each family member was touched by Ernie’s profound love and selflessness, and they will carry his legacy forward in their hearts.

Throughout his career as a pipe fitter with T & T Industrial, Ernie was known for his exceptional work ethic and his camaraderie with colleagues. His hands were skilled, and his spirit was collaborative, making him a valued member of his professional community.

Ernie's passions were as wide and deep as the open roads he loved to explore on his motorcycle. His sense of freedom and adventure was infectious, and he often shared these moments with friends and family. An avid fisherman and swimmer, Ernest found peace and joy on the water, whether it was a quiet morning with a fishing rod in hand or an exuberant day with loved ones on the boat.

Those who knew Ernie were consistently touched by his generosity and kindness. He had an innate ability to see the good in every situation and to uplift those around him with his optimism. Ernie’s presence was a source of comfort and happiness, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, at Parker Mortuary from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will take place following the visitation at 1 p.m. with Alan McCamey officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Bikers Against Child Abuse (AKA) B.A.C.A of Missouri.

The arrangements are being handled under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
