Lance S. Hembree, age 70, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Mercy Hospital Joplin.Lance was born January 17, 1945 in Joplin, Mo. and lived in Joplin most of his life. He was the owner of Lance S. Hembree Masonry Co. in Joplin. Lance served his country in the U. S. Army from 1965-1967, serving with the 11th. Armored Cavalry Regiment, Black Horse. He was a life member of the 11th Armored Cavalry’s Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. He was a member of Christ’s Church of Oronogo, Mineral Lodge #471 A.F.& A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Joplin, and the Oronogo Electa Lodge #111 Order of the Eastern Star.
Lance married Erma Rouse October 24, 1969 in Oronogo, Mo. and she survives. Additional survivors include a son, Vance Hembree, Joplin, one sister, Betty Seward and husband Jack, Webb City, Mo., and two grandchildren, Steven Chase Hembree, and London Stevens, Hembree, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Christ’s Church of Oronogo with Paul Smith, Minister, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Members of the 11th. Armored Cavalry will serve as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers. Masonic services will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with visitation following the service. Memorial contributions are requested to Christ’s Church of Oronogo, or the 11th Armored Cavalry Memorial Fund in care of the Mortuary.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
