Betty Ann Pickard, age 68 of Joplin and formally of Golden City, Missouri passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 surrounded by family.
Betty was born May 24, 1946 to the late Robert Swaggerty and Lucille Large Steel in Lowder, Illinois. She was a factory worker in Lockwood, Missouri at the hat manufacturing plant many years ago and worked at Wayside Cafe' in Golden City for a few years. She was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Golden City.
On November 2, 1982 after many years together, she married Charles Pickard. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1989. She later reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Melvin Ray Steele who also preceded her in death after 20 years together.
Betty is survived by one son, Buddy Pickard (Chrystal) of Tulsa, OK; daughters, Tamera Elder (Stephen Buller) of Joplin, Doreen Kannmore (James) of Webb City; step-children, Loretta Martin of Sedalia, MO, Evelyn Rogers of Sonora, California, Charlotte Golf of Rogers, AR, Patty Martin (Nolan) of Rogers, AR, Marlo Nash of Carlinville, IL, David Pickard (Lisa) of Rogers, AR, Gary Pickard (Sue) of Rogers, AR; brothers, Gary Swaggerty (Mary) and Earl Swaggerty (Mari) both of Springfield, Illinois; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by two stepchildren, Charles C. Pickard and Ronald Pickard; brothers, Bob, Raymond, James and Freddy Swaggerty; and a sister, Linda Edge.
Graveside services are planned for Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Golden City IOOF Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday from 6-7:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
