Janice Eliene Faubion, age 76, of Jasper, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Jan was born January 8, 1939, in Oakland Illinois, to Morris and Beatrice (Cox) Coon. After High School, she served her country in the United States Air Force 1959 until 1961 and then the Army National Guard 1977 until 1988 and was a Major in the Army Nurse Corp. She received her Bachelor of Science Business Administration and was also able to earn her RN degree. On July 1, 1960, she married Carroll Dean Faubion and he preceded her in death on October 25, 1999. Jan was a voracious reader, an avid fan of Big 10 college sports and the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed knitting and had won several first place awards from the Lamar Fair entries.
Jan leaves behind two sons, Chris (Marsha) Faubion, Joplin, Geoff (Kelly) Faubion, Jasper; one daughter, Sandy (Kelly) Peterson, Joplin; one sister Sandy Shigiyama, Tokyo, Japan; five grandchildren, Krista, Raul & wife Liz, Morgan & wife Shayla, Brett, & Chelsea; two great grandchildren, Kale & Leighton.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Carroll, and two brothers, Marshall & Richard Coon; and a brother-in-law, Toshio Shigiyama.
Memorial service will be 6:00 pm Friday, February 20, 2015 at Daniel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. There will be a private family burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
