Lena Louella Jennings, age 83, Joplin, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at St. Luke's Nursing Center in Carthage.
Lena was born October 7, 1931 in Neosho, Missouri, daughter of the late Oscar Burr and Pearl Wasson Burr. She attended Neosho Schools, and on July 1, 1950, she married Marvin E. Jennings, Sr.
They made their home in the Joplin area where she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Jennings who passed away on November 15, 2012; her siblings, Agnes Kincaid Harris, Delmar Burr, Dale Burr, George Burr, and Truman Burr, and a son-in-law, Shawn Fuller.
Survivors include her children, Gene Jennings and wife Helen of Joplin, Richard "Mike" Jennings and wife Mary of Carthage, Missouri, Chris Jennings and wife Kim of Joplin, Marisa L. Fuller also of Joplin; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Rex Wakefield officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
